Jamie Kopp

LMHC (she/her)22 years of experience

Greetings from Jamie Kopp, LMHC. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and I have over 22 yrs. of experience helping others reach their best potential. I work with ages 2-elderly, to help them understand themselves, develop skills, improve relationship dynamics and become happier as an individual, couple or family. I use various techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, Family Systems, and Psychotherapy, among others. If you are depressed or anxious, dealing with a change of life, experiencing unhealthy relationships, demonstrating anger or unhealthy behaviors, let me help you begin the process towards change. Life can have it's unexpected surprises. Don't face it alone. Let me help you or the one you love and care about.

First session

The first appointment will include an assessment, gaining an understanding of your past mental health, education, career and family. We will also begin the process of developing goals for therapy. We will get to meet each other and make plans for future growth.

Strengths

I'd like to help you gain an understanding of yourself and why you think or behave the way that you do. If you already know these things and how your past has impacted your current ways of thinking and behaving, then I would like to help you towards change. I care about you individually and provide an individualized approach to therapy that is best for you and your progress. I have taught from pre-school to college levels, that leads me to using a psychoeducational approach at times, teaching you or having you complete homework assignments (not necessarily paper assignments).

Ideal clients

Life can have it's challenges from relationships to work or meeting daily requirements. Clients suffering from depression or anxiety get better as they learn healthy ways to manage stressors and become more hopeful in their lives. Couples will sometimes have difficulty understanding one another and just need some communication tools and insight to help build a healthy dynamic of relating to each other.

Treatment methods

Child-Parent Psychotherapy

Understanding the dynamics between the parent and the child are important in identifying healthy and unhealthy relationship dynamics and developing new ways to relate and new ways to behave.

Christian Counseling

Letting Christ be the center in the therapeutic process allows an understanding that God is the one that guides the therapist and helping the therapist to help her clients understand themselves, heal, and develop new ways of thinking and behaving. There are reasons for the depression or anxiety and the Word of God has ways to guide us and help us heal from hurts of the past or overcoming fears of the present or future.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Negative thoughts lead to negative behaviors. We can change the way we think to develop new hopeful ways of being.

Compassion-Focused

Sometimes you may just need someone to talk to, someone that understands your pain and is willing to listen. With compassion, you may heal just by talking about what is troubling you or what is going on. Sometimes, it even helps you to understand yourself or discover your fears or desires.

Couples Counseling

As a couple, you have a unique way of being and behaving that is different than when you are alone. You bring out each other's strengths or sometimes you might bring out the other's weakness. What's important is the role communication plays in understanding and connecting to each other. You can develop healthy ways of communicating and connecting to each other that enhances the relationship and helps it to move forward with common goals and objectives.
