New clients continue care with this provider

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience with a wide range in many areas including substance abuse, mental health, grief counseling and couples counsel. My therapy style is very interactive, compassionate and warm. My therapeutic modalities vary on the client, no one person is the same. Some of the modalities used are Client-Centered, Motivational Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, CBT , Solution Focused Therapy and Psychotherapy. I believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect and will meet you where you are. I strive to create a warm and open environment and have found being interactive allows an individual or couple to be comfortable with talking and engaging. Listening as a therapist is an extremely important skill as well as being able to communicate effectively. Finding the right therapist is not always easy and for some can be discouraging, I commend you for reaching out and truly hope I can be part of your journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we do a brief introduction, where I say a few things about myself and then ask you to do the same. Then we discuss what brought you to therapy and what you are hoping to achieve and if you are uncertain we discuss the goals together. I strive to create a comfortable and safe environment so that in our first meeting you will feel open to asking questions if you have any.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked extensively with grief, loss and caregiving, as well as substance abuse and depression and anxiety. I also have run support groups in the above mentioned areas as well and have worked with a wide range of age groups as well as with couples. I also have been involved with the LGBTQ+ and have provided couples counseling, handling relationship issues such as open relationships and polyamorous relationships within the couple as well as other areas of concern.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I truly enjoy working with a variation of people, I enjoy open communication and a person or people that like to interact between each other and myself. I appreciate being able to help build a person and seeing them take the tools they work on to better themselves in the areas that they feel they are struggling in.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT may help you to change unhelpful or unhealthy ways of thinking, feeling and behaving. I use practical self-help strategies. These are designed to immediately improve your quality of life. I have found this to can be an effective way to treat depression and anxiety. As well as help a person build their self esteem, self confidence and self love.

Couples Counseling

Using the Gottman Method to help clients open up the communication, understand how they are affecting and impacting each other with words, tones of voice, facial expressions etc. Focusing on building a positive relationship and ability to support one another.

Motivational Interviewing

In meeting the client where they are at, help them understand how addiction or alcoholism impacts their life. Work to help them build a support network and build a recovery system to assist them in sobriety.

Gender-affirming therapy

I provide a safe and affirming space for the family and loved ones of a gender-diverse person to explore feelings, address mental health concerns, develop coping strategies, and receive guidance on social, medical, and legal aspects of their loved one's gender transition.

Grief Therapy

Grief therapy helps a person work through a greater than normal reaction to a loss, such as the death of a loved one. This reaction may include behavioral and physical problems, extreme mourning, and being unable to separate emotionally from the person who died. This is not just limited to death grief therapy can be used over many different types of losses.
