Accepting new patients struggling with anxiety, depression, and/or unresolved trauma. I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida. I use cognitive behavior therapy or motivational interviewing, giving a nonjudgmental workspace to move through rather than around thoughts, feelings, and situations. For trauma work, there a few methods that we discuss and choose depending on needs: EMDR, CPT and NET. Each trauma intervention is quite different in method but the ultimate goal is the same: post traumatic growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session I'll get as much information as is important to be able to help and we'll collaborate on what therapy will look like and how often.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have multiple interventions that I can use based on what works best for the person. I like all of them so I have the ability to use methods both tailored to your needs and evidence-based.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Trained in CPT and worked with clients in a residential level of care designed to treatment mental health and substance use disorders. I continue to use this in outpatient/private practice. Clients can use an app called CPT coach designed by the VA to complete assignments and either have them sent to me directly or discuss in session.

EMDR

My preference is for in person therapy with EMDR but it works just as well online. I use EMDR exclusively for unresolved trauma though I understand it can be used in multiple ways. I complete a few assessment to determine level of dissociation and appropriateness for this intervention. We'll talk through all of it before we start of course!

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT interventions to help clients who love gathering and developing skills to manage their emotional distress and effectively navigate difficult situations. This intervention is the evidence based intervention for borderline personality disorder; however, I include these skills in multiple interventions. I am a certified DBT professional, I do not use strict Linehan DBT.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

For clients struggling with OCD, ERP is the evidence based intervention, I have formal training on the integration of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) with ERP. I do not use VR; instead I integrate challenges in between sessions and if possible join you for them to integrate calming and coping skills during the exposures.

Motivational Interviewing

"I have 4 years of expereince in a residential substance use and cooccuring mental health treatment facility. Motivational interview is the evidence based intervention for substance use treatment and was used daily. I continue to use it to develop rapport and ensure that when we're building treatment plans we're magnifying goals, removing barriers and resolving any remaining ambivalence toward change. After all even when change is positive it takes energy.
