I will do my absolute best to ensure our sessions begin and end on time. However, due to the nature of this career, there are occassions where I may be delayed with another person to evaluate for additional interventions (therapists are mandated reporters in Florida). I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I am the founder and CEO of SHATTERED NOT BROKEN THERAPY (SNB). I have an extensive background working with children, adolescents, and adults in several environments including: inpatient residential, outpatient clinics, and community-base/ wrap around services. I have experience treating several mental help conditions including but not limited to Substance Use Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Mood disorders, and Stress.

I would describe myself as a goofy and radically empathetic therapist that struggles with severe ADHD and also anxiety. Not to mention the grief! I am big on being vulnerable myself. We must lead by example. I also am a strong believer in the power of connection. If you cannot connect with your therapist, research says that therapy is not likely to be effective. I prioritize the therapeutic relationship above all else. That is my foundation. That means I pride myself on not being a robot. I cannot believe I have to say this, but many students in therapy have told me that they have had robotic therapist. That is not me. I believe the most powerful therapeutic techniques are empathy and unconditional love, and those are the values I do my best to display consistently. I currently provide individual counseling to students at Miami Dade College and I have found that I really enjoy working with college students that recently graduated from high school. I find that the world treats them cruelly at such an overwhelming time of their lives and they deserve unconditional love, not tough love.

It can be difficult to be vulnerable and open when you are experiencing feelings of hopelessness or loss of motivation. I honor your courageousness in embarking on your road to recovery, awareness, and growth. We can assess where you are and where to begin; this journey is led by you. I am here to meet you where you are and as you are. I approach life with the understanding that pain is a natural part of the human experience, yet how we interpret and handle that pain can be a choice. My goal is to assist you in developing strategies to navigate life's challenges more effectively. I use person centered and mindfulness based therapy that increases self awareness. Through cognitive based therapy, you can challenge barriers that prevent you from reaching your goals.

I am Gillian. I am a natural born empath. Do you struggle with the push through mentality? My approach is Person Centered based. This means I wholeheartedly believe a person has the capacity for growth. My specialties include working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, and addiction. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Based Therapy. I can help with navigating complex and uncomfortable emotions. Seeking therapy is an act of prioritizing yourself. It takes courage to be vulnerable. It can be difficult to get to a place of peace and find joy in the simplest of things when you are in that so to speak tunnel.

Everyone needs help from time to time, but the hardest step is asking for help. Now that you’re here, you are well on your way to living the life you want. As a therapist, I am a systemic thinker. I use various therapies and techniques such as Narrative therapy, Solution focused brief therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Hypnotherapy, and Mindfulness techniques to help my clients live better lives. I also encourage my clients to share their faith in therapy as this can often be a huge source of strength in the healing process. I like working collaboratively with my clients to identify the problem(s) causing emotional distress in their life and alternative ways to solve their problems. I enjoy working with teenagers, individuals, couples, families and groups. Some issues I have worked with are anxiety, depression, life - transitions (e.g. school, relocations, physical illnesses), child adjustments, PTSD, and grief. My clients are people who want to move from feeling "stuck" to having a greater sense of purpose, empowerment and clarity. My approach to counseling uses a relational model that creates a safe environment where I encourage my clients to develop resiliency and self-empowerment. Life is very hard.
