About me

My name is Kristin and I am a licensed mental health counselor with three years of experience helping children/adolescents and young adults to navigate life's challenges! Here, you'll have a space to be completely you - to explore your feelings, build coping skills, and work toward meaningful change. I specialize in self-esteem, navigating peer/social relationships, and life transitions, along with anxiety, ADHD, and anger management. I frequently use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to tailor sessions to each client's unique needs and promote meaningful connection and change. Together, we can build balance and clarity!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we will review your intake paperwork. I will ask questions to get to know you and your concerns, and give you the space to ask me any questions you may have regarding myself as a provider, or therapy in general. We'll clarify your goals and expectations for therapy. With clients under 18, I'll review all of the above with the parent/guardian as well as listen to your child's perspective, and I'll include age-appropriate activities to help your child feel at ease.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I know that a client's trust is a high honor! While I strongly believe in evidence-based interventions, it's the therapeutic relationship that keeps us moving forward. Most of us simply want to be heard. While tailoring my approach to your needs, I will also go above and beyond to create a space where you can be you. You can show up to sessions with the confidence that you will be heard and understood.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve teens and young adults through life's transitions (college prep, career change, social relationships). I also work with children/adolescents to help them learn about and navigate their emotions. I frequently work with concerns and challenges such as anxiety, ADHD, and anger management, along with the social challenges that can be associated with autism spectrum.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is an excellent method to explore one's values and reflect on how authentically one is living in accordance with their values and beliefs. This approach can shed light on blind spots and help cope with things that we may not be able to change. This approach can also assist with pain management, as we focus on creating value and quality of life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This approach connects one's thoughts, feeling, and behaviors. We have more power over our mind than we think, and this method can help reframe our thoughts to foster the behaviors we want to adopt.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

We are here for you. I take sessions at your pace, whether you are looking for a therapist who can be more directive or one who can listen and let you guide the session. This space is for you.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

By highlighting one's strengths and doing "more of what works," we can create a meaningful action plan to facilitate change.
