I understand that life’s challenges can often leave us feeling defeated and, at times, unheard. In the midst of our struggles, it is imperative that we take the time to nurture ourselves and cultivate a compassionate relationship with our own experiences. Acknowledging our feelings and giving ourselves permission to process them is essential for healing. Developing a healthy sense of coping is not just a luxury; it’s a necessity for our emotional and mental well-being. As we navigate through life’s complexities, we must prioritize self-care and self-compassion. This involves recognizing our strengths, celebrating small victories, and allowing ourselves grace during difficult moments. As a dedicated therapist with a passion for fostering mental wellness, I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth and healing, and I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I remain committed to walking alongside them as they discover their strengths and resources while empowering them during their healing journeys.

*Currently accepting new clients via teletherapy.* I am ready to help you! I have been a therapist for 10+ years and my mission is to help you find balance in your life. I view therapy through a holistic standpoint, in which I use the mind and the body to help you get to the wellness that you so deserve. I became a therapist because I wanted to help clients navigate the stresses of work and life and make meaningful changes that would improve their mental well-being. At the first session, you can expect a non-judgmental and an easy-going conversation to build up a therapeutic alliance. At the moment, I practice entirely over tele-health, giving us the flexibility to connect conveniently and safely. I received a Master's degree in family psychology, in 2010, from Hardin-Simmons University in Texas. I engage others by helping them feel comfortable while also being solution focused. I prescribe to a Cognitive behavioral approach which helps others see life's problems and solutions in a better light. I work with individuals ages 5-100, families, adolescents, marriage or relationship counseling, premarital counseling, and parents who need some guidance raising their children. Some areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, bipolar, problem solving, relationship specialist, communication skills, anger management, coping skills, relaxation exercises, and panic attacks.

Hello there! My name is Elizabeth Taylor and I am in Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have been working as a counselor for the past 9 years, although I have been working in the mental health field for much longer. I began working as a Mental Health Technician when I was an Airman in the United States Air Force in 2007. I worked closely with military men and women returning from deployments and experiencing symptoms of PTSD. I led Anger Management and Stress Management groups. This experience grew my desire to enter into a field that involved helping those struggling with mental health challenges to find healing. I separated from the Air Force and went into grad school. Since graduating, I have worked as a therapist with several different populations, including families involved with the foster care system, adult inmates in a prison, youth in the Juvenile Justice system, adults in community mental health, children in the school setting, and, most recently, adults and children in private practice. I have a passion for working with those suffering with anxiety, OCD, and trauma. I have specialized training in EMDR to help treat trauma, as well as ERP, which has been shown to be the "Gold Standard" treatment for OCD. I am also certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which guides much of my approach to emotion regulation.

I am a licensed psychologist in Florida with over twenty-five years of experience with children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of mood disorders, parenting problems, behavior, and relationship issues. I have conducted evaluations for Social Security Disability and the Department of Children and Families as well as custody Parental Evaluations for families and the court system. I am trained in Collaborative Law divorce mediation to help families focus on the best interest of their children through those difficult circumstances. Working with patients that are having difficulties making life adjustments as life becomes more complex is what I enjoy the most because we all can become more adaptable and develop new skills and techniques to help us cope more effectively. I have worked with patients suffering with and recovering from significant medical issues including COPD, CVA, TBI, cancer, diabetes, COVID, and physical injury, assisting them in regaining strength and independence and being able to return home following inpatient rehabilitation intervention. Many people I work with are first responders, have PTSD, or are suffering from Acute Stress Disorder following a trauma. My therapy style varies according to the issues presented, and my role as a psychologist is not to judge but to treat people as individuals and provide needed support. I use cognitive-behavioral and reality therapy and am very much in-line with the humanistic approach in all client care. I prefer to be solution-focused and to provide clients with valuable tools that they can use in the future as needed. Decision making strategies and techniques are emphasized. I provide supportive therapy and try to aid in empowering patients in taking confident, measured steps toward where they want to be next in their life path.

My name is Mary Vaughan and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for the state of Florida. I have been in the mental health business for 35+ years. I love my work and that is the reason have stayed in it as long as I have. I am a military brat and I have moved around in Europe and many states. Before I begin to work with a client, I tell them some of my background. It is my opinion the client should know something about his/her counselor before we begin our work. I have had very successful results working with people who suffer from some kind of abuse ( either in childhood or as a young adult.) If abuse has occurred at most any age, the individual may come to me and tell me that they are experincing stress, depression, anxiety and/or panic attacks. Before beginning counseling, I inform the client that we will have a questioning and answer process. This allows the client and me to get to know each other a little better. Based on the information I gather about my client, we discuss what the client wants from their sessions. The individual and I work together as a team. In this process, the client gains a sense of self-esteem and a sense of control over their lives going forward in the future. Finding the right "fit" of counselor and client is key to a successful experience for the client. After the counselor gives the client some unique coping skills, the counselor asks the client if these skills might work for them. These coping skills are "Fluid" and can be modified and changed as we proceed in the counseling process.

Biography: Greetings! Thank you for stopping by my profile! Even if “just passing through", you're on a journey, and I'm glad to be even a tiny part of it! You may be confused about where to begin...there are lots of counselors with all different styles. Maybe you see so much on TikTok about therapy, but you aren't sure if you need shadow work, CBT, EMDR or DBT. I have good news! You don't need to know! Its great to have an understanding of modern therapy tools and terms, but it is NOT necessary. You only need open your mind to new things (maybe more than a few times!) and learn to listen to your instincts. That's all! It might take a few tries, but it will be worth it- and so are you! A little about me- I became a licensed professional counselor in 2002. Since then I've worked with many different types of folks in many settings. I particularly enjoy working with young adults through middle age. I specialize in treating ADHD, Anxiety & Addiction (which includes overspending, gambling & overeating!) I also work with non-clinical issues such as Career changes, Perfectionism, Generational Trauma, Estrangement and Grief. Whether you have a specific problem or you're stuck navigating ‘life on life's terms’ , I will help you harness the power of human resilience. My approach with all problems is help ignite your individual, lifelong process of discovery and recovery . Age & experience has taught me that all my clients share something in common - the need for unconditional connection and the desire to explore. Does that sound like you? Then let's begin!

Anxiety, depression, and relationship issues are experiences that many of us encounter at various times in our lives. If you are feeling overwhelmed by negative emotions or believe you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or any combination of stressors affecting your peace of mind and relationships, we may be a good fit for each other. You are not alone in your struggles, and you deserve to regain the peace of mind and joy that seem to elude you right now. My primary goal is to help you transition from merely feeling good to truly living well. I draw from a range of educational, career, and life experiences to support individuals holistically. My therapeutic approach combines Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Process-Based Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with mind-body techniques. As a licensed marriage and family therapist and a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst with over 30 years of experience, I employ compassion, positive psychology, and Mindfulness to help adults and adolescents reach their fullest potential. Therapy provides a safe space to address mental health struggles and overcome challenges. My methods, particularly ACT, CBT, and Positive Psychology, are effective in treating issues such as addiction, anxiety, depression, anger, and trauma. They also assist individuals and couples facing relationship or parenting difficulties. Through ACT, you will learn to be more psychologically present, connect with your values, and make space for life’s inevitable pain. You will also discover how to take actionable steps despite emotional discomfort and cultivate an appreciation for each moment in your life. While my specialty is brief therapy, some situations may require an extended therapeutic relationship, which can be beneficial for adults and parents dealing with complex mental health challenges and navigating difficult child-rearing adjustments at home.

Hello, My name is Moises Ramy. I am a licensed mental health therapist, a Qualified Supervisor in the State of Florida, and a doctor of psychology. I graduated as a Doctor of Clinical Psychology from Carlos Albizu University, Miami Campus and completed my doctoral internship at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Lexington, Kentucky. At that time, the mission of FMC was a federal prison/hospital for incarcerated females with medical and psychological conditions. During my doctoral internship, I completed three clinical rotations. Two at FMC, in the Crisis Wing and in the General Population Unit and an elective rotation at Ridge Behavioral Health System (formerly Charter Ridge Hospital of Lexington), Lexington, Kentucky, assessing suicidality of adolescents in crisis from the Lexington area and the Appalachians. My clinical spectrum covers diverse females and males, LGBTQ members, homeless veterans, and young college students experiencing moderate to severe adjustment problems as well as older adult issues. During these clinical years, I have acquired vast experience helping clients from all walks of life struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, interpersonal conflicts, bipolar disorder, gender and sexual identity issues, abuse and trauma, and substance abuse. I have offered most of my clinical services in different prisons and rehabilitation centers, private and community mental health hospitals, and veteran homeless organizations. My exposure and experience working with these populations have extraordinarily helped me become a more empathetic, non-judgmental and non-directive clinician. My whole idea about psychotherapy is helping clients to help themselves so that they work on solutions, develop the strength to cope with their everyday challenges and regain competence and control of their lives.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Florida. I'm experienced working with individuals, groups, couples and families. When working with an individual, couple or family I assess and addresses the entire family history, the sum of its parts, and not simply the individuals that comprise it. The distress or problem that originated may not solely be within an individual but a natural reaction to a family dynamic that creates the distress. By using Family Systems Theory I'm able to help the Client have a deeper awareness of their personal conflicts, how to resolve them, and live a more fulfilling life without addictions. I have a Bachelor’s from the University of Arizona and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California. Im experienced working with Adolescents, LGBTQ+ Community, HIV/AIDS, Domestic Violence, Sex and Love Addiction, and 12 Step Recovery.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Florida rather than a city like Tampa?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Florida from Miami to Jacksonville! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Florida.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Anxiety?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Anxiety, is filtering therapists in Florida that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
