Hello, I am Maria Milana, a skilled LMHC in Florida who uses integrative and cognitive behavioral approaches tailored to my client's needs. I am collaborative with individuals and couples on their mental health journey toward personal growth through matters of anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief and loss, and other diverse mental health difficulties. I understand the importance of creating a safe counseling environment and building a trusting, non-judgmental atmosphere to help my clients achieve positive mental health outcomes.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will begin with informed consent, and I will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. We will share brief introductions and begin where you feel most comfortable sharing what brings you to counseling. We will also collaboratively begin to discuss treatment plan goals and objectives that will be individualized for you and built upon in our subsequent follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

A strength I bring is creating a dedicated collaborative therapeutic relationship. My counseling strengths includes active listening skills, creating a safe and confidential environment, and support and empowerment to work together to reach your mental health wellness goals and balance. As a non-judgmental, empathic, multiculturally competent, and genuine counselor, I will support you with interactive therapeutic activities tailored to your unique goals to help you on your mental health journey toward a happier life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in therapy assists clients collaboratively in ways to identify and challenge the patterns of unhelpful thinking, develop healthier thought patterns, and foster adaptive, healthy ways to respond, improve, and lessen the symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues to improve one's emotional well-being.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in my practice to help clients with emotion regulation, accept the reality of their lives and behavior, foster ways to manage stressful situations, change their lives and problematic negative emotions and interpersonal relationship issues with healthy mindfulness and coping skills and learn interpersonal effectiveness skills to find the balance of self-acceptance and benefits of change.

Integrative

I use an integrative approach in my practice of empirically proven adapted techniques based on my client's specific needs and problems that will benefit my client's needs and create collaborative treatment plan goals and objectives to foster a positive change with a therapeutic alliance.
