My dream client is a high-functioning woman who appears to be managing it all—but inside, she’s carrying the weight of anxiety, pressure, and deep emotional overwhelm. She might be navigating a major life transition like divorce, a career pivot, motherhood, fertility challenges, or menopause. She may be successful on paper yet struggling to maintain boundaries, meet others’ expectations, or feel truly connected to herself. She could be facing workplace discrimination, identity shifts, or silently asking, “When is it my turn to exhale?” I work best with women who are insightful, motivated for change, and ready to explore the roots of their stress—not just cope, but understand. Using an integrative blend of CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and psychodynamic therapy, I offer a collaborative, empowering space where clients can slow down, reflect, and build tools for realignment—emotionally, mentally, and authentically.

I am the Founder of Blooming Minds Inc., and I am a Board Certified Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been dedicated to helping children, young adults, their families, and caregivers for the past 17 years. I received a B.A. in Sociology from California State University, Los Angeles and a M.S. in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy from University of Phoenix, Arizona. My passion runs deep for my clients, and I am determined to make a difference in their lives as well as the lives of their families and caregivers. I began my early career providing public assistance to underserved communities. I expanded my career into child welfare services and have worked with children, their families and caregivers, helping support behavioral and emotional challenges, financial challenges, career challenges, and domestic violence. I understand the importance of early intervention, timely assessments, and developing individualized treatment plans to enable clients to live independently, encounter positive experiences from their environment, and be able to enjoy a fulfilling and happy life to reach their full potential. I believes the key to obtaining self-sufficiency for my clients is to assist them in the progression of their expressive language, daily living skills, social and family interactions, academics and/or career path. Welcome! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years of experience in mental health. I specialize in helping individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship/ family conflicts, parenting issues/postpartum, life transitions, immigration, eating concerns/body image, and low self-esteem. Therapy is a safe space to explore, process, and understand your emotions, and I do so with a feminist, social justice, and humanistic lens. I utilize evidence-based practices, such as mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy. We may just as much explore your childhood and family of origin as we may identify concrete solutions to real-time problems. I love bringing in humor as appropriate. Therapy is challenging, and it takes a lot of courage to recognize "I need help." I hope to enter every session with an open mind and a nonjudgmental stance as we walk together through some of the most difficult moments in your life.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in San Diego, CA but I am also licensed in Indiana. I moved to CA in 2020 with my husband and two children. I have been a therapist for over 15 years, and I have worked in schools, crisis, outpatient, inpatient and moved into private practice full time in 2016. I became trained and certified in EMDR in 2016, and when COVID hit in 2020, moved my practice entirely online. I work mostly with young adults and women with trauma, eating disorders, and relationship issues.

Hi, I’m Sara Burt, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in San Luis Obispo, California. I grew up in Lake Tahoe, shaped by the rhythms of nature—something that still grounds me today. I'm a mother, partner, and someone who finds meaning in quiet moments and honest connection. I approach therapy with curiosity, compassion, and a belief in your capacity to grow and reconnect with yourself. My work draws from relational, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based approaches. I support people navigating motherhood, life transitions, identity shifts, anxiety, grief, and relationship challenges. At the heart of my work is creating a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported. Outside the therapy room, I’m often with my family or hiking local trails with my two Australian Shepherds—bringing the same presence and care into every session.

Search therapists by insurance

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Post Partum?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Post Partum, is filtering therapists in California that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
