Hi! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Art Therapist based in California. I have two masters degrees one from Notre Dame de Namur University in Counseling and Art Therapy, CA and an MA from Hunter in NYC. Most of my experience is with children, couples, families and severe mental illness, also PTSD, Military Trauma, Substance use and ( for children ) parental imprisonment. I have also worked extensively with teenagers and sexual abuse. My style is attachment based and i may use art therapy directives if this is something you would like to explore. Apart from Trauma and especially sexual trauma, sex addiction and substance use i am also well versed in Perinatal, Post Partum and Parenting.
In the first session clients get to explore their "dream outcome" ( "If you had a magic wand, what would be different about your life"] i will assess them via various assessment tools including art and drawing if possible and if client is open to this their expectations, mental health challenges and intentions they have for therapy.
Warmth, honesty, confidence and experience. allowing space & freedom to truly explore. It may feel like a journey of "art, fun, adventure" but in reality the client is doing the very hard work of taking a very honest look at who they are where they are where they want to be and how they maybe able to get there. My biggest strength is that on this scary adventure journey i am a rocksolid safe person, i pay attention, i am very present and focused with them. Also i am old, i have worked with a lot of very seriously ill clients and i am very tolerant and non judgemental, i have "seen it all" so there is no shame, no judgement.
i am best positioned to serve someone who desires to be in therapy and is honestly looking for help to unlock what maybe hidden from their view about themselves what hinders them to see themselves clearly and therefore hinders them from breaking free of the past, old toxic family patterns, limitations set by mental illness especially trauma & addictions. I can help to work within the limitations severe trauma may have set allowing to trust again and create an environment for themselves in which they can explore gently and builld trust.

In my approach to attachment based therapy the client-therapist relationship is based on developing and building trust and centers on expressing emotions. While we may looks at the connection between early attachment experiences with primary caregivers in your life, the focus is on your current ability to develop healthy emotional and physical relationships now, as an adult. Treatment planning focuses on currently challenging mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression and how to better the conditions leaning on the attachment focused relationship developed in therapy. While learning new patterns and ways to connect, receive and express emotions in the hour of therapy, the "real work" of therapy is during the rest of the week when you get to try these patterns out in your life.
