LCSW, 7 years of experience
Hola!, My name is Rosa Hernandez, I am a bilingual, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, based in Los Angeles California providing telehealth services. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process and guides clients to increase self-awareness, gain new perspectives, decrease negative symptoms and increase personal strengths to have a more meaningful life experience. My approach is warm and interactive. I believe in treating others with dignity and respect. I draw from a variety of methods and collaboratively work with you. I believe a collaborative approach to making changes to self-defeating behavior can bring life-altering results. My goal is to collaborate with you on your continued journey of understanding and growth.
The first session is focused on building an initial connection and helping you feel as comfortable as possible. We'll review your rights as a client, as well as the policies and procedures that guide the therapeutic process. I’ll also take time to learn about your preferences, comfort levels, and any limitations you’d like me to be aware of when it comes to therapy. As part of the intake process, I will gather a biopsychosocial history and explore the concerns that brought you to therapy. Since every individual is unique, I prioritize listening first, giving you space to share how you've been feeling lately and what you hope to achieve through our work together. My goal is to create a supportive, collaborative environment where you feel heard and empowered.
One of my greatest strengths is my genuine passion for helping others. Whether through volunteering in my community or being a trusted friend, I’ve always found fulfillment in offering support and guidance. I find it deeply rewarding to walk alongside individuals as they work toward becoming the best version of themselves. This sense of purpose continues to motivate and ground me in my work.
I have experience working with individuals facing a wide range of complex challenges, including severe and persistent mental illness, substance use and abuse, chronic health conditions, homelessness, involvement with the criminal justice system (parole/probation), and at-risk youth. The majority of my professional background has been in community mental health settings, where I’ve supported clients navigating multiple intersecting stressors. In addition to serving high-need populations, I also work with individuals who simply need a safe, nonjudgmental space to be themselves and process life’s experiences. I believe in meeting people where they are and supporting them with compassion, respect, and cultural sensitivity.
