As a therapist, connection and understanding are two goals that I strive to meet to assist in helping you. Learning your story and about who you are is the most exciting aspect of therapy and essential in any type of meaningful change. When we have a better understanding of who you are we may then use techniques to assist with the concerns that have brought you to meet with me. For the last five years, I have worked as a licensed professional clinical counselor in the state of CA. During that time I have worked in a variety of settings. Personally, working with those who struggle with anxiety has been the most exciting and fulfilling.

I am Dr. William A. Lambos. I am dedicated to providing quality care that emphasizes treating you as a whole person. In my treatment model, medication is a last resort and utilized only after other options have been fully explored. My approach differs in that I recognize the role of the brain in mental health. I recognize that problems in one area of a client's life impact other areas, and so my philosophy is designed to integrate all aspects of functioning. I am committed to helping you achieve balance and harmony in every area of your life by reducing stress and teaching independent self-regulation. What makes me different is that my approach "Leads with The Brain," and finishes with how you achieve balance and self-awareness. Many behavioral health issues have brain-based components that are usually ignored. Once these are identified and handled, therapy can do its job as it was always meant to work. In today's hectic, busy world, the keys to a peaceful and prosperous existence include the ability to manage stress caused by demands on our time and energy. Our unique selection of resources combine effective traditional approaches with innovative methods of treating the brain and body.

I don't just like people, I appreciate people. I truly appreciate those who have suffered traumatic events and/or critical incidents (or years of them) and keep going. Walking alongside those who are hurting is my life focus. Physical pain and emotional pain look the same in the brain! I am a certified trauma therapist and certified child and adolescent trauma therapist. I also hold certifications in both somatic therapy and child and adolescent grief. I am a trained and experienced Brainspotter. If you like talk therapy we can do that. If you have tried talk therapy and feel the need to go deeper then "bottom-up processing" may be the answer for you; that is what trauma therapy is all about. You don't have to tell me your story unless you want to, we can work with silence. I am a retired law enforcement officer and have extensive experience working with people in crisis and chaotic situations. Though I never served in the military myself, my family has a very deep military history and there are many parallels between the careers. It is very important for military and first responders, including dispatchers and emergency room personnel, to have a support system in place BEFORE the 'numbness' sets in. It would be my honor to be a part of your support system. I may not wear the same size, but I have probably taken some steps in your shoes.

You will also learn that it is true, and that will be the most freeing thing you will ever learn from anyone. In our very first session, expect to be HEARD and SEEN. Clients often come in with diagnoses already tacked onto them. Depression, anxiety, and/or severe adjustment disorders are often part of the stories they tell me about themselves. I have tremendous compassion for you. I am not interested in the negative labels or self-defeating stories that you have been carrying around like heavy burdens. I believe that each person who engages in their own healing journey will have the opportunity to not only change their life, but may also impact the lives of others in the process. To navigate through personal problems shows tremendous strength and I know therapy is great starting point. What helps me stay focused and driven as a therapist is the belief that having the capacity to heal is a true form of resilience. I want to help my clients reach their goals and thrive in life.

“What one person has to offer to another, is their own being, nothing more, nothing less” – Ram Dass. My therapeutic approach is a strength-based perspective that focuses on a person’s innate potential rather than pathologies and shortfalls. Consistent with this approach, my role as a therapist lies not in solving problems but in helping clients examine inhibited issues and biases, identify practical solutions to their problems and progress toward deeper wisdom. I have worked with adults, children and families. This experience has included clients of various ethnicities and addressed a range of mental health issues, interpersonal relationship problems, and life transitions. I draw on my experience of 15 years in travel journalism and Corporate America and this understanding helps me support my clients as they navigate the stress and success in their place of work, endure layoffs, reevaluate priorities, and make renewed efforts towards new beginnings. My therapeutic style is adaptive to the individual needs of my clients. I believe the process of change is an ongoing dialogue. This process can be brief or longer term, depending upon the needs of the client. Sometimes I use mindfulness techniques to supplement therapy.

Hello, it's a pleasure to "e-meet" you! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California and I have been working as a therapist for over 25 years. I enjoy teaching and utilizing different methods of therapy to provide psycho-education, increase insight and flexible thinking patterns, evaluate your symptoms that are unpleasant or unmanageable, monitor your progress (both short and long term goals) and practice applying your new coping skills to enhance your strengths and live a more fulfilling life. I do give homework so you can practice new coping skills and exercise self care throughout the week. Homework is strictly optional, but it's all for the "new you" and you deserve self care daily! *Let's talk and unpack your history and process more understanding during your "road trip" with me. I will be your co-pilot while you are behind the wheel- that way you manage the speed because it's all about you feeling safe, secure and trusting the process and feelings of leaving what doesn't work for you behind, staying present, taking deep breaths, feeling pride in your strength and positivity to hold that space as we then proceed and keep going. *We will travel to your destination(s): Feeling better and resolving conflicts and we will have to stop for "gas" to recharge/rest/review our progress and determine if we are going in the right direction. We will explore other ways of thinking and reconstruct new ways of thinking your destinations. We won't race to the finish line, and remember: You have your foot on the brake to slow down when needed. Remember: pacing, trust, monitoring energy and feelings, and practicing new routes will get us to your destination safely!

Hello, I remember a joke from sometime ago that goes something like this: "Three friends were walking together one day, and one remarked, 'It's windy,' Another responded, 'No. It's Thursday.' Still the other answered, 'I'm thirsty, too. Let's have a cup of tea.'" Is it that way for you sometime? Finding that you are not really being heard and understood? I get it! I work with clients to help them find their strengths and abilities that assist them in better communicating their needs to themselves and to others which can lead to better outcomes in overall functioning in their lives. If that sounds like your experience, we can talk about it together.
