Welcome, Dr.D here! I am a Southern girl that relocated to SoCal over 10 years ago. I obtained my bachelor's degree from Auburn University in Psychology and a minor in Criminology in 2007. In 2009, I continued on from there and received my M.Ed. in Community Agency Counseling. In the midst of gaining such a range of rich clinical experience in the field, I was fortunate to secure my Psy.D. in Clinical Forensic Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2017.
It's your time, so I want to learn what led you to seek out treatment today? Before the end of the session, I will be listening to you identify what success looks like for you? Now, anything worth having typically takes a process- well this is no different. But let's work together to make the process much more enjoyable! You're worth the effort!
With over 15 years of providing mental health services, I honor the complexity that people hold from different walks of life. Thus, I am flexible and love being a support to others along their explorational journey to feeling more whole and secure. I truly meet people where they are, and believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship paired with a willingness to try something different will upscale chapters in your book.
I love working with clients who are ready to take action! Life can be overwhelming, and often times it is difficult to sort out the next steps. Additionally, the clients I see find themselves feeling stuck, and unsure about how to move forward to the next chapter of life. I think I am good fit for you if you like to be challenged to identify how your behavior is not quite matching what you had in mind.
Gaining an awareness of how you process information, and your flow to resolving conflict is key. My eclectic approach typically pulls from experiential, humanistic, and holistic view- let's be real, what happens to the mind and body affects the whole being. Hence, identifying your values/beliefs coupled with exploring how life traumas and/or your lifestyle decisions have led to your current status. I will take that information and provide some interactive activities to shift things up.
