Hello, I am a licensed clinical social worker based in Illinois. I help individuals explore their past experiences and learn how their past is currently impacting their daily life and functioning. I enjoy using a variety of evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy to help you get to the root of your problems. Together we can learn to identify core beliefs, process trauma, and gain skills to manage symptoms that interfere in your life. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, or just feeling overwhelmed from daily life, I am here to help you. I will always meet you where you are at, and work with you in a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I like to get to know a little about you as this allow us to build rapport and build a therapeutic relationship. I will also gather information about your presenting problem that brought you into counseling so I can better understand your needs going forward as a therapist. Towards the end of the first session, I will ask you what your goals are for counseling so we can make a plan to work towards meeting your therapy goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Some of my strengths include helping individuals identify negative core beliefs about themselves and how their thoughts impact their feelings and behaviors. I also enjoy teaching mindfulness techniques to help individuals learn to be present in the moment rather than be consumed by their thoughts. Mindfulness also teaches individuals to be aware of their thoughts and emotions, which allows that that person to respond in stressful situations rather than react.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT to help clients better understand their thoughts and emotions as this allows the person to manage and regulate their emotions in a healthy and effective manner.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help client's identify how their thoughts influence their feelings and behaviors. Learning this cognitive cycle allows the client to recognize unhealthy thought patterns and how to replace them with healthier and more adaptive thoughts that lead to feeling better.
