I’m passionate about creating a warm, welcoming space where clients feel heard, supported, and comfortable being themselves. My goal is to help you navigate life’s challenges, discover your strengths, and find greater peace and balance.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. My counseling approach utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I am a firm believer that thoughts drive our actions. If we effectively manage our thoughts, our desired outcome will manifest in our actions. I am passionate about establishing a therapeutic relationship with my clients that is mutually beneficial and welcoming.
Kudos on taking this first step toward change! I am a licensed psychologist, licensed marriage and family therapist, and an international parenting, divorce, and coparenting coach. I have expertise working with couples and families in conflict, or who are struggling with communication. I am Level II trained in the Gottman Method, and utilize this extensively with couples. My clients report successes such as trauma recovery; anxiety and depression reduction; managing existential and identity issues; gaining peace of mind; reducing stress; and controlling anger. I have a private practice in south Florida (family-options.com), where I supervise master's level mental health counseling and psychology trainees. In addition to Florida, I am licensed as a psychologist in California, Texas, Arizona and Iowa, and am a PSYPACT credentialed clinician, having obtained an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) from the PSYPACT Commission, which also allows me to serve clients via telehealth in most US states. My name is David Mancuso, and at the heart of my work is a belief that every person carries an untold story—one shaped by survival, family dynamics, unspoken pain, and the longing to feel whole. I help clients reconnect with the parts of themselves they’ve had to silence in order to function. My approach blends depth-oriented psychotherapy with a direct, grounded style that invites honesty, clarity, and personal evolution.
I draw from years of clinical practice, trauma-informed training, attachment theory, and my own lived experiences navigating complex family systems. Because of that background, I understand what it means to rebuild a self from the inside out. Clients often come to me during moments of transition, emotional exhaustion, identity confusion, or relational upheaval. They stay because our work helps them find their center again.
While I bring a calm and steady presence, I also show up with real engagement. I don’t sit back passively—I’m interactive, reflective, and attuned to the subtle patterns that shape how you think, feel, and relate. Therapy with me is an active process of reconnecting with your original self, strengthening your internal structure, and learning to move through the world with more confidence, emotional clarity, and integrity.
Above all, I care deeply about the people I work with. My intention is to offer a space where you feel understood, supported, and challenged in meaningful ways—so you can step into a more grounded, connected, and empowered version of yourself.

First Session
In our first session, my focus is on getting to knowing you- what brings you to therapy, what you are hoping to gain from our work together, and what may have felt difficult or painful lately. I’ll ask gentle questions to better understand your experiences, your history, your strengths and the goal you have for therapy- where you want your life to be, a month, six months, a year from now. Then we’ll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You will leave the session with a better understanding of what you are facing and I can help you begin making sense of your experiences, recognizing your strengths, and identifying the next steps toward healing. There is no pressure to share anything you are not ready to discuss. We will begin building a foundation of trust and understanding and develop a collaborative plan for our work together. Most importantly we will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I received my Masters Degree in Counseling at the University of North Texas in Denton Texas. I come from a cognitive behavioral orientation although I also use gestalt therapy. Hi there, I'm Tonya.
Do you feel like you need someone to talk to but feel like no one understands you?
Carl Rogers said, “We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy.
I am committed to creating a space where the client feels seen and heard.
I have a unique counseling style that allows clients to quickly engage in the therapeutic process. Helping clients find a deeper understanding of themselves is my focus. I guide the client through their journey of self-awareness with cognitive restructuring combined with a person-centered approach.
Do you feel overwhelmed and mentally depleted? Our thoughts, emotions, and behavior are guided by our internal compass. Sometimes we need to check our compass and make sure we are going in the right direction. This internal compass is the lens through which we see ourselves, and the world and influences our decisions.
A shift in the thought process opens the door for healing and clarity of thought. I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can gain the self-awareness you need to work through your struggles and move forward with your life. Let's work together!
Working together once you realize your inner power, both therapist and client collaborate on cultivating that inner strength. For example, I've worked with individuals dealing with self-harm, formerly referred to as cutters/self-mutilation. Also, I worked with SI/HI, depression, anxiety, people with AH/VH/TH and paranoia, addictions, relationship issues, trauma/abuse, grief, eating disorders, sleep disorders, self-esteem, Bipolar, coping with life changes, attachment issues, body image, developing healthy boundaries. Counseling is a collaborative process, "Working together for a better tomorrow."
My background covers a wide range of experience working with individuals and groups of all ages, diverse backgrounds and circumstances, and in various professional settings and roles. The professional settings I have experience in range from non-profits, child/family services, crisis intervention, child/youth shelters, psychiatric hospitals, schools, and private counseling. I have worked in many roles as well, including case management, social worker, counselor, teacher, supervisor, director and administrator.
The most important thing to know about me is my belief that in all of my experience, the people involved who need help and support are much more capable of handling the issues in their life than they may feel like they are at the time they come to my office. I have worked with children, families, adolescents, and adults and this has always been true. Whatever circumstance or issue causes someone to seek help, my role is to assist that person in finding ways they can handle it and with better results for them and their life. I frequently remind clients that there is one thing that every low point in their life has in common: the low points change, they pass, and things are not always like that. Our job is to move that change in a direction that benefits you and will support you in a brighter future.

I have been working in the field of mental health for 14 years. I have experience working with a diverse range of people and mental health disorders. My professional background includes experience in the inpatient, outpatient, and intake hospital setting; non-profit agency setting; and, most recently, private practice. This experience allowed me the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, adults, and families utilizing a variety of unique interventions including cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, eye movement desensitization (EMDR), and sand tray. I specialize in the treatment of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but I often take a client centered approach when building a trusting relationship with clients. Research shows that people who experience chronic mental health concerns have untreated trauma, which can occur from a variety of different experiences. Of course, trauma does not account for all mental health concerns, so it is important to be able to meet client's where they are at and provide interventions that are helpful to the individual needs of each client.

I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, stress, and/or self-care.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over two decades of experience helping individuals work through anxiety, depression, stress, and life challenges. I am also a former educator. My approach is warm, supportive, and practical, with a focus on helping clients feel understood while learning tools that can create meaningful change in their daily lives. I combine Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and mind-body techniques to support emotional healing, self-awareness, and personal growth in a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment.
