Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I would with clients to see what they need and help them to look at these in different ways. We do the "Catch it, Check it, Change it point of view. We will work on CBT techniques to help as follow: Exposing yourself to situations that cause anxiety, like going into a crowded public space. Journaling about your thoughts throughout the day and recording your feelings about your thoughts.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
This a method used mostly with military and veterans. We work on SMART goals including: improving emotion regulation skills by practicing mindfulness for 10 minutes daily, reducing impulsive behavior by using healthy coping strategies and enhancing interpersonal effectiveness by attending a weekly support group when available.
Eclectic
This counselor does not feel one method is right for everyone. Therefore, clients are accessed and seen where they can best be supported.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
This is where this counselor allows the clients to be a part of their treatment by allowing them to add what they want to work on. The humanistic belief that the client inherently driven toward and has the capacity from growth and self-actualization.
Trauma-Focused CBT
This is where the client is helped to rethink situations and learn how to cope with things better.
