Hi everyone! I'm Antony Cantu (he/him/his), a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 7 years of experience across diverse settings, which includes 4 years of clinical (private practice, shelter) and 3 years in the educational setting. This unique blend allows me to specialize in areas like trauma, particularly intergenerational traumas and sexual identity challenges, while also addressing related issues like anxiety, depression, and family conflicts.
Throughout my work with a wide range of clients, men and women alike, I've been struck by how truly individual we all are. Your unique experiences and perspectives are what make you special. By identifying what you want to achieve, we can work together to develop a personalized path towards a more mindful, embodied, and fulfilling life. Bilingual in Spanish and English, I've primarily worked with Latinx populations.
I believe in tailoring treatment to your unique needs, blending traditional and innovative therapies to achieve balance and wellness. I commend your journey towards wholeness and look forward to working with you!
I am a self-motivated and progress-driven Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with 10 years of professional work experience. With an extensive background in Nursing, Organizational Management, and Small Business management. Over the years, I have been driven by core values to become an essential agent of change. MY experience comes from providing individual and group counseling for teenagers, kids, and adults with a variety of presenting issues, including LGBT-related issues, depression, anxiety, relationship and family issues, trauma, domestic violence, men's prison, and sex trafficking.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or emotionally exhausted, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate it by yourself. You may know you need support but feel unsure of what to say or where to begin. That’s okay. Therapy is a place where you can start exactly where you are.
I work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of judgment. Healing doesn’t require perfection—it requires honesty, patience, and compassion.
People and their stories have always deeply mattered to me. From an early age, I felt drawn to listening and understanding others, which naturally led me into this work. My experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds. I strongly believe that progress is still progress, no matter how small, and every step forward deserves to be acknowledged.
I am a Licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. Clients often describe me as empathetic, patient, and kind. I strive to meet you where you are and walk alongside you at a pace that feels right for you. You are the expert of your life—my role is to support, guide, and empower you.
My primary therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on identifying unhelpful patterns, building coping skills, and creating meaningful change. Therapy is a collaborative process, and together we will work toward clarity, healing, and growth.
As C.S. Lewis said, “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” Your experiences are valid, your feelings matter, and your story deserves care. I would be honored to be part of your healing journey.l
It is not always easy to reach out for help, but you are on the right path. Things will get better as we approach your struggles and goals together. I have any easy going straight forward approach to therapy as I work to meet each client’s unique needs.
I have been a therapist for over 30 years and have worked with clients on a myriad of issues including anxiety, depression, postpartum depression, perinatal loss and other women’s issues. My work has also included working with folks on life transitions whether it be family or career related, as these can create much stress for people.
I have worked in Connecticut, Florida and Texas, both as a clinical leader and practicing clinician. I am currently licensed in Connecticut, California and Texas. My training was at the Columbia School of Social Work where I received my masters degree.
I truly look forward to the opportunity of working together and hope we will talk soon. You are not alone.
As a licensed clinical social worker, I am committed to collecting evidenced based "tools for my toolbox" to aid those grappling with finding the new normal after their world has shifted. I most love helping people find language to describe their losses, often when there has been difficulty finding the words, inspiring people to find hope again, and facilitate the development of a plan to move forward in a way that both honors their experiences and embraces the future.
I take an action-oriented, collaborative approach to therapy. I utilize a combination of psychoeducation, storytelling, and evidenced-based interventions to offer meaningful insight to support clients’ healing. I strongly believe that rock bottom is the foundation upon which we can rebuild our lives. We do regular check-ins to review progress along the way. Our goal is not to change the past, but instead to find some relief from symptoms that impact daily functioning. I will solicit feedback regularly during sessions for takeaways to gauge progress and curate treatment interventions based on what is most engaging and productive for the individual client.

If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and encourage you. Wherever you're at on your journey, I am willing to meet you there and support you in reaching your desired destination.

Using evidenced based interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and psycho-education modalities, I help clients build the skills needed to create healthier, more fulfilling lives.
I approach clients with the an open mindset, looking to explore what the client needs and what they want for themselves. I always want my clients to know there is no judgement from me in their decisions, EVER. I view everyone's mistakes as us just being human and having a human experience. This practice of examining our human journey and what motivates us to do the things we do is extended to myself, my clients and my children/family. I often attempt to have the practice of asking myself "why did I do that? Did I do that because of this or because I was feeling blank?" I think it is important to help others get to the place where they ask themselves the same type of questions. We're all here just having human experiences!

My main professional interest and passion is insight-based psychology and existential psychodynamic therapy. I studied and practiced clinical psychology in Belgrade, Serbia for 15 years where I also received intensive training in psychodynamic therapy and worked with individuals, families, and groups. Since moving to Houston 12 years ago, I completed my graduate degree at the University of Houston, where I practiced therapy mostly with people suffering from trauma, anxiety, and grief. I taught courses to graduate students at the University of Houston on Spirituality and Aging, Group therapy, Grief/Bereavement therapy and Research Methodology.
My deep dedication to the understanding and acceptance of the most diverse human existential experiences and challenges has led me to explore a wide array of aspects and sources of knowledge both scientific (evidence-based), but also those stemming from the creative processes of making music, literature, film, and art. My basic belief is that ultimate healing and balance comes from the inward, often unpleasant, but deeply rewarding journey into ourselves that incorporates our habits and thoughts, but also our physical existence, emotional dynamic and spiritual needs and values. My goal as a therapist is to be a reliable, trusted companion in this journey of self-exploration and self-acceptance.
