Hello! My name is Joni Courtney, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with experience in providing compassionate and effective therapy services to individuals of all ages. I create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where my clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to foster personal growth and healing. I believe the client is the expert of their experiences and I work alongside my clients to create goals and treatment plans that are unique to them.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will start with brief introductions, then discuss the challenges you're facing. From there, we will work together to build goals and a plan that we will work through during our follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe therapy is a collaborative relationship designed to foster healing, self-awareness, and personal growth. I am intentional about active listening and thoughtful questioning. I love helping clients explore their inner experiences, identify patterns, and develop coping strategies. My therapeutic approach is tailored to each person’s unique needs, using techniques from various therapeutic models. I believe success lies in the balance of grace and accountability.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT in my practice because it is a versatile approach to therapy. It assists my clients in challenging reoccurring thoughts and managing anxiety and/or depression. Together we’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. Then we will use that knowledge to change patterns of thinking, resulting in decreased symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Motivational Interviewing

I love Motivational Interviewing because it is a client-centered approach that can be especially effective for people who have mixed feelings about change. I am passionate about assisting clients find the motivation needed to make the changes necessary to improve their life.

Strength-Based

Strength-based therapy focuses on a client's internal strengths and resourcefulness. By assisting clients identify their best qualities, find their strengths, and improve resilience we can make lasting changes.
