I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have a master's degree in Psychology with a concentration in Alcohol/Substance Abuse. I have been working in the mental health field for several years and have experience working adults and families who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, grief /loss, addiction, relationship concerns and other life experiences.
My experience varies in different settings, as l have provided individual therapy in community mental health agencies and treatment facilities. I am committed to helping individuals learn how to build healthier relationship with themselves and others. My work focuses on targeting ineffective behaviors, habits, and core beliefs. I am passionate about people and their struggle with the roller coaster of life.
I believe that each person has their own story that has shaped what they are currently experiencing. Through my work, l strive to foster a safe space where clients can tell their story, gain insight into how life has impacted them, and create a new reality that is more fulfilling. I utilize an eclectic approach that includes Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, with an eye toward how people can use their support system, community resources, mindfulness and newly learned skills to live the kind of life they envision for themselves.
