Hello! My name is Jason Fox and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider designation in Tennessee (LPC,MHSP) I have 19 years experience in mental health. I practice primarily cognitive behavioral therapy. I focus on trying to teach people that we need to think and act better first in order to feel better. I have experience working in crisis and crisis supervision. I have seen a lot of different things over the years and the most important thing to me as a therapist is to meet clients where they are at and to have a positive working relationship with them to help them get to where they are going. It is often difficult to begin the journey of therapy and I am glad you are considering it. Most people come to therapy hoping to try and fix something in their life that does not seem to be working so well. I will work with you to try and discover what all is going on and how we can work together to help you be the best self you can be. I believe in focusing on building small, easy to learn coping skills and taking consistent baby steps towards your goals. The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session I am focused on doing 2 things: 1. Giving you the space you need to talk about what it is that brings you to therapy and 2. Collecting information about you and your life experiences thus far.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I give people space to just be themselves and to talk about whatever it is that they need in that moment. It has been said by others who have worked with me that I am a very direct and down to earth person who is supportive and pulling for you.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I primarily practice cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). I tend to look at the way our thinking and behaviors influence our feelings. I look at the accuracy of the cognitions and help clients reframe unhealthy ones into more healthy ones. I also help people develop positive behavioral treatment plans.
