Greetings! I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) and have worked with offenders, anger management clients, couples, teens and adults struggling with ADHD, anxiety and depression. Through a strengths based approach, my clients learn more about themselves thus improving self-confidence, communication, mood and overall outlook on life. I love serving my teen and couples clients via the Gallup strengths test. This test helps individuals understand where their energy is highest and what they value most. It's not about "strengths", but values. I believe one of the best things we can do for ourselves is take the time to truly understand ourselves as this helps us learn to communicate effectively, be productive, overcome procrastination and more. This is one tool of many I enjoy using to help my clients.

Hi, I'm Natalie. I'm a licensed clinical social worker who trained at the University of Pittsburgh. I am less interested in labels or "shoulds" and more interested in helping you understand what's actually going on in your life... and what might help you move forward with more steadiness and self-trust. We could fancy that up by saying I operate from a compassion-focused, client-centered perspective with a strong harm reduction lens -- but I kind of like my phrasing better! I work with people who want support around substance use; trauma, including complex or developmental trauma; relationship patterns; family-of-origin dynamics; and personal growth during times of transition. My approach is collaborative, non-judgmental, and grounded in evidence-based practices (even if our conversations feel more human than clinical!). I've worked with folks from all walks of life, in a wide array of environments - typical outpatient offices, online, and even outdoors with unhoused communities. I also have a decade of specialized training and experience working with Veterans. So whether you've worn a uniform or not, walked into a therapy office or have never spoken to a therapist before, are a pro at tele-therapy or just trying it out for the first time, I'm probably a pretty good fit for you!

My name is Jeffrey, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan, and a Licensed Social Worker and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Ohio. I have also been an ordained Lutheran pastor since 1989. My professional career began as an Associate Pastor in a Lutheran church in northwest Ohio, where I focused on youth ministry, Christian Education, and pastoral counseling. I entered Social Work in 1995 when I began work as a Family Worker in a residential facility for hard to place juvenile offenders, and then worked in a few outpatient counseling agencies providing mental health and substance use disorder services. I have experience working with people of all ages on general mental health issues, such as managing depression and anxiety, and have specialized in the areas of PTSD recovery and domestic violence and sexual abuse victims and offenders. Throughout my counseling career, I have maintained activity in ministry. I was trained in Clinical Pastoral Counseling and also have had training as a Spiritual Director. My counseling approach is generally non-directive, using a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing in a Solution Focused, Client Centered frame work. I can incorporate spirituality as much or as little as the client desires, from not referencing spirituality at all to fully engaging the spiritual dimension of life. As a caring, empathetic listener, people find it easy to talk with me and be open about what needs attention in their lives. I look forward to working with you!

Hello! Some surface details about myself include that I am in my mid-50's, I am married with two young adult children, and I usually have a few too many pets. Therapy is my second main occupation, the first one being an elementary school teacher for 15 years prior. All this to say, I have lots of people experience both in my work and personal life. I take a holistic approach to therapy which includes the four aspects of the human: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual (this last one referring to the spiritual component of a human being, not a particular religion). I also focus the person within the context of his or her life: job, home life, relationships. While I have assisted people with some very tough stuff over the years, I also typically find a way to work some humor in sessions when it's appropriate. Laughter is good medicine!

There are times in your life when you may feel helpless, depressed, anxious, or even be experiencing conflict with the people you love. You may also see a family member, child, or friend struggling and wonder what you can do to help them work through their negative feelings. When we are in dark places, it can be difficult to understand that healing and hope are possible. As a counselor, I have worked with adults, couples, families, and children. I can help you or your loved ones go from a place of frustration and sadness to healing and growth. I use a combination of classical talk therapy, art therapy, mindfulness, meditation, sensory activities, and motivational interviewing to help reveal your strengths and uncover helpful and unhelpful patterns in your thinking. Together, we can identify themes or patterns in our conversations and use these to develop goals and strategies to heal and grow. I am committed to meeting my clients where they are and building a foundation of genuine trust and respect from the very first meeting. Your comfort is my priority. Wherever you are in your journey, I can help you to recognize your successes, identify areas for change, and create strategies that work for you, personally, to move forward.

I am a licensed psychologist in Ohio and a graduate of the University of Toledo. I have been serving children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families for over 35 years in a variety of settings. I maintain a part-time outpatient therapy practice while helping to lead a mental health agency in Virginia (where I live). Originally from Toledo, Ohio, I hope to serve clients who are in Toledo and/or the surrounding area. While my practice will be primarily via Telehealth, serving clients from the Toledo area will allow me to occasionally conduct in-person sessions. I love to help clients have a more compassionate understanding of themselves and others, heal through difficult circumstances, improve relationships, and achieve desired changes in their lives.

I have a lot of experience in several areas: domestic violence, narcissism, autism, intellectual disabilities, adhd, depression, pregnancy loss, anxiety, parenting issues, life changes, bullying, etc. I like a natural conversation style in sessions so it is as comfortable as possible! If you grew up feeling unsafe, unseen, or alone, those early experiences may still live quietly inside you. You may move through the world appearing capable and put together, while inside feeling anxious, numb, guarded, or disconnected. These responses are not something to fix—they are signs of how deeply you learned to survive. I work with adults who carry the lasting effects of childhood and family trauma, complex PTSD, and experiences of sexual or physical harm. Many of the people I work with learned early on how to be strong, how to adapt, and how to endure. While those ways of surviving once helped protect you, they can become heavy to carry over time. Our work together is not about pushing, reliving painful memories, or asking more of you than feels possible. It is about slowing down, creating safety, and honoring your nervous system’s need for gentleness. Therapy is a space where you don’t have to explain yourself, perform, or hold it all together. My approach is trauma-informed and guided by care for the nervous system. Together, we listen with compassion to what your body and emotions are asking for. Over time, we focus on helping you feel more grounded, strengthening boundaries, easing anxiety or dissociation, and rebuilding trust in yourself and in others. You are not broken. Nothing about you needs to be fixed. Healing is available to you. You don’t have to do it alone.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Ohio rather than a city like Columbus?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Ohio. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Ohio from Cincinnati to Cleveland! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Ohio.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Domestic Violence?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Domestic Violence, is filtering therapists in Ohio that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
