I’m a therapist who sees and treats you as a unique individual — not just a diagnosis or a checklist of symptoms. My goal is to meet you where you are, walk with you through your journey, and support you in reaching a place where you’re not just surviving, but truly thriving. I offer therapy grounded in compassion, care, and consistency. I believe in holding space for both grace and accountability — creating a safe environment where you can be honest with yourself, challenge unhelpful patterns, and grow. Together, we’ll work to identify and confront the distorted thoughts and false beliefs that often fuel anxiety, depression, and disconnection. My deepest desire is to help you break free from cycles that keep you stuck and to support your movement toward healing, clarity, and wholeness.

Client’s often say, “You wouldn’t understand” to therapists, and although I am fully aware that no one can FULLY understand another person’s story, I believe something that makes me unique as a therapist is that I am very familiar with struggle. I come from a large family, of which I am the eldest, and I took on a nurturing role very naturally and very young. I made my fair share of mistakes and landed myself in places I never thought I’d be, including domestic violence. As a result, I fought hard for my degrees, and my journey to licensure took longer than I wanted. However, today I am grateful, because I have learned a lot through my experiences. I have learned how to take pride in my entrepreneurship as a black woman, how to be a strong single mother, and ultimately, how to thrive under pressure. I have worked with a variety of populations, and I find that I am very interested in helping to provide the guidance I was lacking in my younger years. I am loyal, and I am a fighter. I want to help you fight your down darkness, and begin to let the light seep through. My specialties are working with teens and young women with trauma backgrounds. I find that I am able to get on the same level as a teen, help them feel understood, and bridge the gap between them and their parents. I am also very passionate about helping women heal through trauma, particularly domestic violence. Many people cannot comprehend that torment, and that makes healing even more difficult. I try to provide relief for my clients, and I stay genuine to who I am as a human being, which makes me relatable and nonthreatening. If this sounds like a good fit, please feel free to reach out!

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I provide a safe and supportive space where we work together to address concerns, build resilience, and create meaningful change in your life. “If you want to go quickly, go alone. Even if you just need someone to talk to in a nonjudgmental setting. I'm here to support and guide you through these feelings so that we may work together to find a way ahead. Unity is the foundation of my beliefs and core values. I believe that communities help us become resilient in the moments when we feel most alone. Are you experiencing stress, worry, racing thoughts, impaired sleep, feeling on edge, heart racing, nightmares, or/and flashbacks? Do you replay moments in your head? My specialty is helping women uncover the root of their problems and empowering them with tools to regain balance, calm, and confidence. You don’t have to face it all alone. Let me help you on this journey! Imagine yourself empowered, as we find recurring themes and self-defeating patterns. You will discover ways to overcome fear and other emotional obstacles. Problems, once confronted, lead to insights and newfound strength, self-acceptance and freedom. My advanced training is in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) which is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from anxiety, trauma and PTSD symptoms. My experience and training help us to quickly identify key issues, unconscious factors and ways to resolve them. My primary focus is on helping women find balance and peace after experiencing trauma, navigating through life transitions and unhealthy relationships. I can work with you to develop healthy coping skills and gain insight. I love to help others feel at peace and whole again. If there is one thing that I would like for you to know is that the most crucial part of therapy is to find a therapist that you trust. Are you experiencing challenges that are interfering with your emotional health and wellbeing? Do you feel your past experiences are affecting your ability to reach your full potential? Do you need a safe space to process your thoughts and feelings and engage in self exploration? I am a licensed psychotherapist who believes the most important catalyst for change is the relationship between therapist and client. My goal is to partner with you to reach your desired goals in a therapeutic environment. We will take the necessary steps together to foster positive change while creating individual strategies for self-empowerment. I have been trained in EMDR therapy which is a theory based on the belief that our brains have a natural system for processing information and experiences so that we can keep what we need for wisdom, learning, and growth. Sometimes disturbing experiences overwhelm the processing system, or we don't have the information we need for our brains to make sense of what happened in a healthy way. EMDR uses eye movements and other right-left stimulation to activate your brain's processing system so you can successfully process the experience and let go of what's not useful to you. I believe our past effects our present and future- both in adaptative and maladaptive ways. I would be honored to be a part of your journey to inner peace, self-love, and fulfillment.

If it is causing you emotional pain, that is a good reason to seek out help. I understand everyone has a different journey in their lives and I would like to assist you in your path to self-discovery and healing. Your issues may be stress, loneliness, sadness, frustration, or concern for a loved one. You are not alone and I am ready to help you explore strategies to help you improve your life. Each session is provided in a warm and compassionate environment. I will ask you some questions so I can understand which issues you want to focus on. This will help you to become a better parent, partner, and best friend to yourself and your loved ones. Are you ready to take that step of self-discovery to become the best version of yourself? I want to guide you in your path to self-discovery, happiness, and peace. I have been counseling clients for over 24 years and I work with all populations. My counseling modalities include Cognitive behavioral therapy, Solution-focused, and Person-Centered therapy. When I counsel children, I use all of these in addition to Play therapy. Many of the therapeutic issues we work together on are Self-esteem, relationships, communication, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, Social skills, and grief. I am a licensed therapist and have a Masters Degree in counseling. I have spent many years counseling children, adolescents, and adults. Although therapy may look different with each population, the process is equally meaningful in all sessions.

🌿 My Approach to Counseling Forty-four years ago, I was trained as a Holistic Social Worker, and since then I’ve had the privilege of working across the Americas — with people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. Over the decades, I’ve learned that healing looks different for everyone, and that true change happens when we feel safe, respected, and understood. My counseling approach is person-centered, meaning that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to support and strengthen your natural motivation to change. There are many healing traditions in the world, and I will always honor you and your choices as we find what works best for your journey. I combine cognitive (thought-based) and somatic (body-based) techniques to help you bridge the mind–body connection. My specialty is working with stress and trauma, helping you understand how your nervous system responds and what it needs to return to balance. It’s important to remember: trauma lives in the nervous system — not in the event itself. When your system becomes dysregulated, symptoms arise because the residual energy from those experiences hasn’t been released. If your system is stuck on “High”, you may feel rage, hyperactivity, anxiety, panic, or find yourself engaging in high-risk behaviors. If your system is stuck on “Low”, you may experience depression, exhaustion, numbness, disconnection, or hopelessness. Together, we’ll gently guide your nervous system toward discharge and regulation, helping your body and mind restore calm, clarity, and connection. I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can connect, answer your questions, and see if working together feels like the right fit.

You are more powerful than you know. There’s surviving, there’s living, and there’s living beautifully. Let’s leap into your beautiful life.

I am an energetic and creative therapist passionate about meeting with people to bring more clarity, peace, and joy into their life. I am also a Christian, mother, cat-mom, artist, athlete, amateur cook/baker, and reading enthusiast. I utilize a mixture of evidence-based practices and creative exercises to meet people where they are at, develop a deep understanding of their circumstances, as well as how they are thinking about those circumstances. I guide my client to setting specific intentions for our time together that they agree will be worthwhile. I will be warm and understanding, but I am also not afraid to challenge my clients on things they could benefit from changing. I often enjoy using humor and laughter as a force for that change. I have experience serving in a private practice outpatient capacity, intensive outpatient hospital setting, and at the residential level of care. These unique settings have given me a variety of skills and an ability to understand multiple levels of distress and/or what past treatment may have been like for my clients (the good, the bad, and the ugly.)
