I’ve been practicing as a licensed psychologist for more than 25 years, primarily utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy as an effective tool to treat anxiety and depression. As these can be emotionally debilitating conditions, addressing these issues can improve one’s sense of well-being, and thus their lives, dramatically. I have also more recently incorporated spirituality into my treatment regimen, thus addressing that aspect of one's personality in relation to their recovery from depression and/or anxiety.
In our first session after our initial introduction, I plan to discuss with my client any currently pressing concerns, as well as ways we can utilize therapy to address and set long-term goals to improve their emotional well-being. This usually includes an explanation of cognitive-behavioral techniques we will utilize to address their depression and/or anxiety. I will also go over their personal history with them, including previous treatment for emotional concerns.
I feel that my greatest strengths as a therapist are my knowledge and experience regarding my primary treatment modality, as well as my genuine concern for my client’s emotional well-being.
I enjoy working with any client’s suffering from depression and anxiety, who are interested in improving their emotional well-being.
I utilize cognitive therapy to help patients challenge any irrational beliefs or cognitive distortions that result in negative thinking. This negative thought process is largely responsible for feelings of anxiety and depression.
