Hello, my name is Whidden Flores. I am an LCSW who is a Certified Traumatic Stress Specialist, Grief Recovery Specialist, Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, and former Crisis Prevention Instructor. I specialize in helping people through crisis and hardship so they can come out feeling empowered while avoiding all worst case scenarios. For the past 5 years, I've worked with complex clients ranging from 12-75 with a focus on complex trauma, schizophrenia, self harm/severe depression, chronic illness- and any combination of diagnosis that requires more than "average" anxiety management. I also specialize in Narcissistic Abuse & Betrayal Trauma Recovery. I believe in being the therapist that you need and meeting you where you are at. As a consumer of mental health services and a professional, I acutely understand all aspects of recovery on a personal level and will also model health recovery values. I believe I have to earn your trust each time we meet and will work hard to show up solid and supportive regardless of situation. Therapy shouldn't just be about managing a diagnosis, it should be about transforming all aspects of your life to make you better prepared for what the future holds. We all get hit by hardship and there is no shame in seeking out help or better ways to cope. I am LGBTQA+ friendly and supportive of all alternative lifestyles. Let me create a safe space for you so you don't have to go through the worst moments of life by yourself. I very much look forward to meeting you.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will be an introductory session where we will talk about your background, your current issues, and your treatment goals. Here is where we will collaborate so I can be the therapist you need me to be and you show me the best way to support you. You will always have the right to refuse to answer a question, end session early if you "aren't feeling it", or ask me to change my approach

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a Peer Recovery Specialist, you will have a therapist with her own mental health recovery journey so you know you are working with someone who is doing the work too. My focus is on educating you on best practices, resiliency building and empowerment through hardship. No one wants to experience trauma or crisis. But if we have to experience it, I believe in making it an opportunity for growth, improved self reliance, strengthened relationships, a stronger ability to handle stress, and finding ways for a better and brighter future You will find me calm in a crisis, nonjudgemental, and open minded. With over 10 years of suicide prevention under my belt, I am capable of helping you stay safe and manage some of your darkest thoughts with the utmost dignity and care.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

If you are ready for therapy and to make changes, you need to learn better coping or communication skills, need help managing a difficult diagnosis, or have just gone through a terrible loss or have a lot of trauma weighing you down- I would love to help!
