I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor practicing in the State of Florida. I completed a graduate program studying psychology, and another studying mental health counseling, both with Summa Cum Laude distinction. I hold a Registered Play Therapist Sujpervisor certification, a certification in Adlerian Play Therapy (Advanced), and I am both a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Brainspotting Practitioner. I am a member of the Association for Play Therapists, Florida Mental Health Counselors Association, and North American Society of Adlerian Psychology. I work with individuals from age 3 to age 65 in a variety of areas including anxiety, depression, trauma, play therapy, LGBTQIA+ concerns, somatic issues, personality disorders, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and cultural assimilation. I am a bilingual LCSW with over 10 years of experience working in the human services field; focusing on mental health, behavior, and non-profit work. I grew up in Los Angeles, Ca., completed my Master of Social Work at Fordham University in the Bronx, NY., and currently reside in Ocala, Fl. As an LCSW I treat clients from across the lifespan with varying therapeutic needs by applying an integrative approach to treatment. Some of my areas of experience include treating family systems and individuals navigating intergenerational trauma, parents and children dealing with challenging behavior, neurodivergent populations, and individuals with a desire to better understand themselves and the maladaptive behaviors causing distress, mood issues, and anxiety. Areas of specialty include working with young adults navigating life after high school, parenting individuals/partners, and those who identify as Latina women struggling to balance relationships, family, individual needs, and independence. I believe that everyone and their experiences are unique, this is why I meet clients where they are in their life journey, empowering them to find and enhance solutions and coping skills that meet their needs. Although I am trained in CBT and DBT these interventions are only a part of my integrative approach to treatment. Client-centered care remains at the center of treatment; as there is not one single intervention that is best for all. Hi I’m Lisa. I am a licensed mental health counselor who specializes in trauma. You may think you do not have trauma, but I have experience with working with all levels of trauma. From unthinkable, terrible things that may have occurred in your life or in somebody’s life that you care about to smaller traumas such as divorce, your parent’s divorce, unhealthy relationship patterns, the loss of a job, of a pet. Do you feel stuck? I specialize in cognitive behavioral approaches that help us examine unhealthy belief systems, thought processes and behaviors that keep us stuck. I teach my clients cognitive techniques that can be used daily to shift those unhealthy patterns that have kept you stuck, allowing you to make small changes that can ripple into bigger changes, setting you free to live your best life possible.
