Hello, I'm Magda McGuire, a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Mental Health Counselor and founder of Elevated Horizons Counseling, LLC. Seeking therapy is a courageous first step, and you don't have to face life's challenges alone. My goal is to provide a compassionate, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change. With nearly a decade of experience in the mental health field, I have worked with individuals facing a wide range of emotional and life challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, adjustment issues, serious mental illness, addictions, low self-esteem, life transitions, and crisis situations. My professional background includes working in hospitals, where I supported patients and families navigating serious illness, end-of-life concerns, and emotional crises. I have also worked in correctional settings, helping individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, trauma, substance use, suicidal thoughts, adjustment difficulties, and severe mental health conditions. These experiences have strengthened my ability to meet clients with empathy, respect, and without judgment—regardless of their circumstances. I use an integrative, client-centered approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), strength-based interventions, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness techniques, and evidence-based practices tailored to your unique needs. Together, we'll identify unhelpful patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and work toward lasting emotional well-being. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply looking to better understand yourself, I'm here to help you move forward with confidence and hope.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your personal history and current concerns, identify your strengths, and clarify the goals you'd like to achieve. Together, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan that reflects your values, priorities, and vision for a healthier, more fulfilling life. My goal is for you to leave your first session feeling heard, supported, and hopeful.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe that every person has the capacity for growth, healing, and resilience. Therapy is not about being judged—it's about having a safe place to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences while learning practical tools that create lasting change. Clients often describe me as warm, compassionate, patient, and easy to talk to. I strive to create an atmosphere where you can speak openly without fear of criticism. My approach combines genuine empathy with practical strategies that help you better manage life's challenges while building confidence and emotional resilience. As a bilingual therapist, I proudly provide services in both English and Spanish, allowing clients to communicate in the language that feels most comfortable to them.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with adults, children and adolescents, I really don't have a preferred population. However, my ideal client is an individual that is searching for answers, eager to understand and improve themselves, their lives and relationship but, don't yet have the tools needed to reach this goal. They often have difficulty understanding themselves, others and don't know how to improve their relationships.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth, healing, and positive change. Using a person-centered approach, I provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can openly explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. I view you as the expert on your own life. My role is to listen with empathy, offer genuine support, and help you gain greater self-awareness and clarity. As we work together, you can develop confidence in your own strengths, make choices that align with your values, and move toward a more meaningful, authentic, and fulfilling life. My goal is to empower you to trust yourself, build self-acceptance, and create lasting change from within.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, I'm here to help. Together, we'll explore how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another and how they may be affecting your daily life. I'll help you recognize unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge self-defeating beliefs, and replace them with healthier, more balanced perspectives. You'll learn practical tools to manage difficult emotions, reduce stress, improve relationships, and respond to life's challenges with greater confidence. My goal is to help you develop skills that you can continue using long after therapy ends, so you feel more empowered, resilient, and in control of your life.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Sometimes you don't need to spend months focusing on what's wrong—you need a clear path toward what's possible. Using a Solution-Focused approach, I'll help you identify your strengths, build on what's already working, and focus on practical steps that move you toward your goals. Together, we'll create realistic, achievable solutions that fit your unique life and circumstances. I'll help you recognize your resilience, uncover your existing resources, and develop strategies that empower you to overcome challenges with confidence. Rather than staying stuck in the problem, we'll focus on creating meaningful, lasting change and helping you move forward with hope, clarity, and purpose.
