I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker based in Ohio and have been in the field since 2013. I graduated from Miami University in 2013 with my bachelor's degree in psychology and worked as a case manager for a year, assisting adults with managing mental health symptoms. I also helped with medication management, and assisted with supporting them in daily living skills, before getting my master's degree in social work in 2016. Once I graduated with my Master's, I then worked at a community based correctional facility for 3 years as a mental health and addiction specialist. I completed diagnostic assessments and facilitated individual and group therapy sessions for mental health and addiction. From there, I began working at an inpatient behavioral health hospital and assisted patients there with acute mental health needs and helped to provide referrals for outpatient treatment. Since 2020, I have been working with clients doing individual therapy and have been growing my private practice. I find it rewarding to be able to work with clients long-term and get to know them as a person while meeting each individual where they are; what their struggles are, what their successes are, see progress they make in different areas of their lives, and develop a rapport that is respectful and supportive. I have been able to gain a great deal of experience over my 13 years with a very diverse background through promotion and advancement, in the mental health field, and those experiences help me to navigate my therapeutic approach to assist with being able to better serve clients while we are working together.

My name is Jeffrey, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan, and a Licensed Social Worker and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Ohio. I have also been an ordained Lutheran pastor since 1989. My professional career began as an Associate Pastor in a Lutheran church in northwest Ohio, where I focused on youth ministry, Christian Education, and pastoral counseling. I entered Social Work in 1995 when I began work as a Family Worker in a residential facility for hard to place juvenile offenders, and then worked in a few outpatient counseling agencies providing mental health and substance use disorder services. I have experience working with people of all ages on general mental health issues, such as managing depression and anxiety, and have specialized in the areas of PTSD recovery and domestic violence and sexual abuse victims and offenders. Throughout my counseling career, I have maintained activity in ministry. I was trained in Clinical Pastoral Counseling and also have had training as a Spiritual Director. My counseling approach is generally non-directive, using a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing in a Solution Focused, Client Centered frame work. I can incorporate spirituality as much or as little as the client desires, from not referencing spirituality at all to fully engaging the spiritual dimension of life. As a caring, empathetic listener, people find it easy to talk with me and be open about what needs attention in their lives. I look forward to working with you!

I'm Jamie Matthews, and I've been a counselor since 2007. I truly enjoy assisting clients in achieving their treatment objectives. Counseling, in my opinion, is about change, and I think people can alter any behavior that isn't working in their lives. I began my career in community mental health, where I worked with people who had severe and chronic mental illness. I gained a lot of experience assisting people in managing symptoms of severe anxiety, severe depression, hallucinations, and delusions. Using evidence-based techniques, I conducted mostly group counseling sessions and a few individual counseling sessions between 2007 and 2015. I worked as an outpatient therapist for children, adults, and families in a community mental health setting from 2015 to 2021. I have been working with clients in my own private practice since 2021, primarily utilizing telehealth services. Reaching clients in Ohio and Florida has been a great pleasure for me. I still employ DBT, CBT, mindfulness, and other methods to help my clients achieve their therapeutic objectives.

Do you feel overwhelmed and exhausted at times from the demands in your life? Are you finding it hard to have a healthy work/life balance? Do you struggle to enforce boundaries? Are you consumed by your emotions? There's no need to continue to fight these battles alone when I can help! Individual therapy can help with many of these real life situations and more. Seeking therapy can be a big decision in life and I’m glad you are considering this commitment. I currently work full-time at the Department of Veterans Affairs and recently came back to my private practice part-time. With over 27 years of experience, I’ve helped thousands of individuals just like yourself with anxiety, depression, stress management, anger, grief, and compassion fatigue to name a few. Studies have shown evidenced based therapy such as CBT and CPT are proven to help decrease symptoms in disorders such as anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management, stress management, insomnia, and many more. Together, we will identify what wasn’t working for you, assess your commitment to therapy, and develop obtainable goals that will help you be your best self. I will give you tools that you can continue to use for a lifetime. And hopefully you will no longer need therapy but can rely on what you learned through therapy to help you, should you encounter a bump along this thing called "life". You can book a session with me by contacting Grow Therapy. I look forward to working with you! I have several evening appointments available or Sunday afternoons.

Some need to look into the past and process it, receiving a different perspective on it. Some have a specific goal in mind like decreasing anxiety by learning new skills in a short period of time. Others need a listening ear, with some insights sprinkled in. Others still, benefit from clarity and analysis. What do you need? I believe the interpersonal connection between counselor and client can be healing in and of itself. People are ones that hurt us, we're also the ones that heal each other.

Thank you for stopping on my profile. I’m a simple person. As a therapist, I treasure every interaction. Most of my experience as a licensed counselor and working in mental and behavioral health has been working with children and adolescents - particularly those struggling to regulate emotions and manage behaviors. I believe the difference between working with young people versus people of any age is just stage of life. People develop over time but maturity -in itself- does not resolve impact from the ‘stuff’ they experience and carry throughout their lifetime. With that said, I don’t feel inclined to focus only on young people because at one point we were all young. In therapy, I’m a person who believes in the power of relationships. I tend to lean more heavily into the power of the connection than the style of treatment used. I’d be honored to meet you and get to know you but the bigger satisfaction in me would be knowing you found your fit. I wish you the best in your search.

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or weighed down by chronic stress? Do you find yourself caught in unsatisfying relationships, caregiving roles, or patterns of behavior that no longer serve you? I believe that change is possible—and that you already have the inner strength needed to make it happen. Together, we can uncover your innate resources and develop the tools you need to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and renewed purpose. As a licensed therapist with over 30 years of experience, I offer a compassionate and collaborative approach. My clinical background includes working with children, adolescents, and adults in areas such as trauma, emotional dysregulation, impulse control, and chronic stress. I also have expertise in adoption-related issues and self-harming behaviors. Today, my focus is on helping adults build resilience and embrace meaningful growth. I earned my Ph.D. in Social Welfare from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervisory designation in Ohio. In addition to my clinical work, I bring a rich background as a scholar, published author, and administrator—experience that allows me to support clients with both depth and real-world understanding. As a full-time professor at Case Western Reserve University, I remain closely connected to the latest research and evidence-based practices. I deeply value the opportunity to bridge my academic work and clinical practice, applying the same interventions I teach in the classroom to help clients create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. My ideal client is someone who is ready to embrace change, deepen their self-awareness, and commit to their personal growth. Let’s work together to transform old patterns into opportunities for joy, balance, and fulfillment. If this resonates with you, I invite you to reach out—I’d be honored to support you on your journey.
