Have you experienced trauma, abuse, relationship challenges or loss? Do you struggle with codependency? Do you have difficulty setting healthy boundaries? Do you want to build self-esteem and confidence? Have your attempts to create meaningful changes in your life been met, repeatedly with short term-success? Are you losing hope with the prospect of a prosperous meaningful future? Hi! My name is Cassie, and I'm a Christian, faith-based therapist licensed and located in the sunny (and sometimes rainy!) state of Florida. The questions posed above speak to challenges many of us are regularly faced with, but may find it difficult to speak about. Instead, we may find ourselves harboring feeling of shame and guilt which blocks us from pursuing and receiving the help we need. Well there is good news! Therapy with me is conducted within a safe, judgment-free space, where I provide opportunities for you to face those challenges and express those feelings. My approach to treatment can incorporate impartation of biblical wisdom, recommendations for the development of affirming spiritual disciplines, and prayer. At each stage of treatment, we'll collaborate to assess and engage in a way which best fits you. And if you're not seeking faith based counseling? No problem at all! With over six (6) years of professional experience, and a host of treatment methods to rely on, you can rest assured in my ability to meet you uniquely in your place of need. Ultimately, my desire is to help you reach a place of freedom and peace, where you can begin experiencing incremental yet impactful improvements to your overall wellbeing so your life and relationships can bear the fruit they were always meant to.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Glad you asked! In our first session together (intake session), we'll start with brief introductions and get into the reasons why you are seeking therapy at this time. We talk about specific difficulties you are currently facing, and dive briefly into your history, and current therapy goals. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through follow-up sessions. Finally, timing, scheduling that works for both client and therapist, the Live Session Policy, and Informed Consent will also be discussed.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

In simplest terms, I work best with people who are overwhelmed with life's challenges, don't know where to turn or what to do next, but are searching for answers and are willing to put in the work to find them. I believe there’s hope for everyone, even those feeling utterly defeated in this season of their lives. If you’re here, then take it as evidence; the time for healing is now. Head over to my schedule, book an initial session and let's get started!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT treatment usually involves efforts to change thinking patterns. These strategies might include: Learning to recognize one's distortions in thinking that are creating problems, and then to reevaluate them in light of reality. Gaining a better understanding of the behavior and motivation behind how thoughts, influence feelings which reflect behavior.

Daialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is especially effective for people who have difficulty managing and regulating their emotions.

Narrative

Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) is a treatment for trauma-spectrum disorders in survivors of multiple and complex trauma. It builds on the theory of the dual representation of traumatic memories, and contextualizes the particular associative elements of the fear network – the sensory, affective and cognitive memories of trauma – to understand and process the memory of a traumatic event in the context of the client’s life. The client, with the assistance of the therapist, constructs a chronological narrative of their life story with a focus on traumatic experiences, and the fragmented reports of these experiences are transformed into a coherent narrative. For traumatic stress experiences, the therapist asks in detail for emotions, cognitions, sensory information, physiological responses and probes for respective observations, all while displaying empathic understanding, active listening, congruency and unconditional positive regard throughout the treatment. The client is encouraged to relive these emotions as they recount them, without losing their connection to the ‘here and now’. Using permanent reminders that the client’s feelings and physiological responses are the result of their memories, the therapist links the experiences to episodic facts (i.e. time and place). This helps the client reprocess, construct meanings, and integrate these experiences.

Christian Counseling

My approach to treatment can incorporate impartation of biblical wisdom, recommendations for the development of affirming spiritual disciplines, and prayer. At each stage of treatment, we'll collaborate to assess and engage in a way which best fits you.

Interpersonal

Interpersonal Therapy (ITP) focuses on four areas: 1.) conflict in relationships that is a source of tension and distress 2.) life changes, such as job loss or the birth of a child, that affect people's feelings about themselves and others 3.) grief and loss 4.) difficulties in starting or sustaining relationships When people learn effective strategies for dealing with their relationship problems, their symptoms often improve.
