Being at peace in the world as we face life's stresses and difficulties. This is the place I hope to bring my clients. Life is a challenge - one finds sadness and joy; darkness and light; despair and hope. We can learn how to face all of these experiences, accepting both the consolation and the trials inherent in each. I can help clients navigate this great journey, as they build the habits needed to bring fullness of life. I hold a Master's degree in Social Work from Portland State University and have practiced in the areas of adults, children & families, couples, and geriatrics for nearly 20 years. I focus on working with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, & grief. I have substantial experience working with binge-eating disorder, geriatrics, substance use, sexual abuse, child abuse, domestic violence, and suicide. I developed my clinical experience at Vitas Healthcare (hospice), the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and other agencies both in the United States and the United Kingdom.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

As we work together, we will develop a plan that fits the goals you would like to accomplish in therapy. In each session you will learn new ways to face the difficulties that arise in your life. You should expect, as with any change you want in your life, that sometimes you may find the process difficult. But what is most amazing, is how the difficulty will also bring a sense of hope in your life. You can begin to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize an eclectic approach adapted for each client, while primarily focusing on EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), cognitive behavioral therapy and related techniques throughout the therapeutic process. Developing an awareness of our thought patterns and exploring the validity of the thoughts allows us to transform ourselves and to find greater soundness of mind. I am also able to incorporate prayer and meditation into our sessions when clients are comfortable with this approach.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my biggest strength would be my ability to be genuine, to connect with the pain being expressed during the time of therapy. Also, that through this connection, I am able to help you challenge yourself to change and to live a life that is filled with a sense of purpose and mission.
