New to Grow
I graduated with my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2016 and I have been practicing counseling in Ohio since October 2016. I have worked with a wide spectrum of clients ranging from teenagers up to retirees. I specialize in working with youth, teens, and adults, but I thrive working with clients across the lifespan. My hope is to help clients achieve their goals for therapy, no matter the age group or struggle.
I will support each client's goals to better their lives and offer challenging opportunities in order to bring about positive change. Through a client-centered therapeutic relationship, I am able to develop rapport and maintain a safe space for growth to occur. My clients can expect to develop the skills necessary to help them overcome the challenges they are facing.
Therapy can be daunting. It might include facing your fears or handling difficult life issues. However, I provide a safe environment where clients can be their true selves and feel heard and understood. I will never judge you, but I may challenge negative thought patterns that appear to contribute to your problem. Even though I will challenge negative thoughts, I have developed a therapeutic style where humor is used effectively and not maliciously. Many of my clients have found my sense of humor to be helpful in developing a therapeutic alliance and working toward a healthier version of themselves. My hope for you throughout the therapeutic process is to develop healthy thought patterns, while establishing mindfulness coping strategies that help you manage your day-to-day stressors. If you are looking to develop a healthier version of yourself, then I would be a great fit to help you achieve that goal.
I welcome both individuals and couples who are wanting to overcome their struggles and develop a heathier lifestyle and mindset. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety and depression, are self-critical, have difficulty emotionally regulating, have relationships that feel strained, and have difficulty finding true connection. Therapy is a collaborative effort and I aim to help my clients identify underlying issues that are causing anxiety and depression symptoms, alongside helping clients find purpose and meaning in their lives.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients identify underlying negative thought patterns that lead to symptoms of anxiety and depression. Then, I help clients build new, positive ways of thinking that improve quality of life and reduces anxiety and depression symptoms.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy helps clients to identify their problems, while developing simple, or complex, solutions that lead them to reduced anxiety or depression symptoms.
Though I only practice Christian Counseling with others who prescribe to Christianity, or those who wish to discuss faith, it is an integral part of who I am and my Christian faith has shaped my desire to help people, especially when they are in their darkest periods of life.
