My approach in collaborative, trauma informed and strengths based with a focus on building insight, resilience and coping skills. I aim to empower clients to feel more grounded and confident. I specialize in helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Many of my clients are high-functioning, self-aware, and capable in many areas of life, but internally experience racing thoughts, self-criticism, overwhelm, or a constant sense of pressure.
In therapy, we work on calming the nervous system, understanding emotional and thought patterns, and creating a greater sense of internal safety and steadiness.
I have been a therapist for 14 years, working virtually with teens and adults for the last 7 years. I enjoy meeting clients where they are and offering a warm and safe place to explore who they are and who they want to be. My background is in communication sciences and that has helped drive who I am as a therapist. I understand that all behavior is communicative and sometimes we need help understanding what it is we are trying to communicate to ourselves and others.
Hi, I’m Catherine! I'm the kind of therapist that feels like talking with a friend. It's important to me that therapy doesn't feel too intimidating or scary - I want you to feel safe, supported, and understood while doing challenging yet rewarding work.
My approach is using the lens of Polyvagal Theory, which means I focus on your nervous system and help you understand the different states of your nervous system and how to interpret the signals your body sends you to then meet your emotional and psychological needs. I also use person-in-environment (PIE) where we will look at how the environments you are exposed to play a role in your mental and emotional state because a lot of what we humans experience is appropriate responses to things we experience - therapy with me is learning how to move through those responses. A lot of the work is about finding safety within your body and gaining confidence by aligning with who you truly are.
I’m originally from Nashville but now call New York City home. When I’m not with clients, I’m usually reading, wandering around the city, or at a Yankees game. And on occasion, my cats will join our sessions!

My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), strength-based treatment, and compassion-focused interventions. I balance genuine compassion with structured, goal-oriented support to help clients create meaningful and sustainable change.

Clinical areas of treatment include anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationships, stress management, conflict resolution, work and career issues, grief & loss, and anger management. I strongly believe in the dignity and worth of people and am dedicated to helping people find a productive healthy path.
Welcome! Come on in, I’m glad you’re here. The challenges of life can be overwhelming; the past making the present feel like less of a gift. You may feel stuck, like it’s impossible to move forward. Life transitions have a way of stirring up emotions and throwing you off balance. This mounting weight can impact your relationships, work, social life, and everything around you. I want you to know that you don’t have to face all of this alone. Together we can create a plan to help you feel better and achieve the changes you are seeking. Here, you will have a safe place to learn and to grow to overcome the challenges you face.
We will work together to establish a genuine connection. I believe this is the most important part of therapy. I value honesty and transparency in our work together, without which movement and authentic change cannot occur. For therapy to work, you have to feel understood and heard by your therapist. I will work with you to alleviate hesitancy about therapy and fear of vulnerability. I will frequently check in with you to ensure the therapy process is working for you and ask how our relationship can be improved.
This collaboration will empower you to make the changes you need in your life. You will have more control over your decisions. Regardless of your “why,” whether trauma, marriage or relationship issues, depression, anxiety, grief, loss, or life transitions, I’m honored to be here for you. We will get through this together.
I’m a licensed psychotherapist working with adults who may appear high-functioning on the outside but feel anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally unsettled beneath the surface. Many of the individuals I work with are navigating relationship challenges, life transitions, self-doubt, or persistent patterns they can’t quite untangle on their own.
My style is thoughtful, steady, and insight-oriented. I integrate practical tools for emotional regulation with deeper exploration of relational patterns and attachment dynamics. I believe therapy should feel both grounding and meaningful — a place where you can slow down, understand yourself more clearly, and begin shifting patterns that no longer serve you.
Clients often describe me as calm, direct, and attuned. I aim to create a space that feels safe enough for honesty and structured enough for real change. My work focuses not only on reducing symptoms, but on building emotional clarity, stability, and more secure ways of relating — to others and to yourself.

You are capable, possibly the most capable person in the room, and yet something keeps getting in the way. Maybe it is the anxiety that follows you into meetings, a career crossroads you cannot seem to resolve, or a voice in your head that is harder on you than anyone else. You do not need someone to tell you what to do. You need a space to get clear, a direct approach that respects your intelligence, and tools that actually work. With 20 years of experience, I help high-functioning adults close the gap between where they are and who they know they can be.

As a married man and proud father of two, I tap into my life experience and my personal therapeutic journey to offer my clients the parts of my own map of healing and action that is relevant to them. My personal therapy has made me understand what it is like to sit on the coach and I integrate into my therapy what I liked and weed out what I did not find helpful (i.e. How does that make you feel?). It has also helped me build self awareness and achieve a degree of healing that helps me be able to understand what it means to truly suffer as well as what healing actually looks like. I am an Orthodox Jew and proud man of faith and when my clients have a value system that is aligned with my value system, I integrate religious and spiritual perspectives and practices into the therapeutic space. Rita LaBrew, LMFT, brings a depth of experience spanning foster care, child welfare, private practice, and telehealth. I offer a collaborative therapy space grounded in clinical skill and evidence-informed care. I tailor treatment to each client’s goals, helping individuals build insight, resilience, and lasting change. I work with adults willing to look inward and reflect on their inner lives. By offering clarity, language, and insight, therapy becomes a space for understanding, steadiness, and meaningful change over time.
My style is thoughtful, direct, and collaborative. I use an insight-oriented psychodynamic approach to help you understand the roots beneath the pattern: family-of-origin dynamics, protective roles, and the stories you’ve had to live by. I also use psychoeducation to make therapy practical: clear language for what you’re experiencing, tools for boundaries, and ways to respond differently in real life.
Feeling overwhelmed by past traumas, stuck in anxiety or the midst of life transitions? With EMDR, CBT, and mindfulness, I help you find clarity, calm, and renewed purpose. Hello, I am Cathy Lipper, and I am a licensed clinical social worker who has been in practice for more than three decades. I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Chicago, which built a tremendous foundation for me to be in this field for such a long time. I believe that my greatest strength lies in helping people feel at ease when they are seeking help, since in itself, that can be so stressful. I use my personality combined with my knowledge base sprinkled with humor to find out what people are seeking and to help them reach those objectives.
I have more than thirty years of experience working with individual and couples in therapy. My approach is direct, practical and solution- focused and warm. I work collaboratively with clients to develop more helpful ways of thinking and responding to life’s challenges, especially during times of transition.
Although I am now exclusively in private practice, my background includes many years as a school social worker. I have supported students and parents of children and adults with special needs, with a strong focus on future planning. I also have experience completing foster care and adoption home studies in both public and private settings. These experiences allow me to bring a broad, grounded perspective into my work with clients
What drew me to this path was being able to help people see that they carry the strength and resilience for resolutions on their own. Much of what people may need is some guidance and support through their healing journeys.
I specialize in working with individuals navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I take a client-centered, collaborative approach to therapy, tailoring each session to your unique needs and goals. Together, we'll identify challenges and work on strategies to help you move forward with confidence.
I predominantly work with young men struggling with social anxiety disorder. Do you struggle with social anxiety and poor self-confidence? I know that overcoming it is possible! Many come to therapy for social anxiety because of childhood trauma and how it has manifested in their adult lives. Often this manifests in feelings of poor self-confidence, poor self-worth, and poor self-confidence. At its root, the fundamental belief of those who have social anxiety is the belief, “I am not enough.” Clients get into the habit of comparing themselves to others and it makes them feel inadequate and insecure. Over time clients begin to avoid situations that elicit their anxiety, particularly social situations. This can lead to social isolation and loneliness. Clients will present with complaints of frequent panic attacks, not having a romantic partner, not having friends, not being happy in their jobs and feeling disconnected from life. They are labeled by others as shy, quiet, or introverted. This scenario described myself for much of my life which gives me lived experience to better able to assist you. I help individuals combat their social fears and begin to live a rich and fulfilling life. I do this through cognitive behavioral therapy techniques primarily but also integrate solution-focused therapy, assertiveness training, exposure therapy, and acceptance & commitment therapy. Whether you're a teen struggling to make friends and socialize or you are an adult unable to speak up at work meetings or unable to ask someone out on a date, I'm here for you! Seeking therapy can be frightening but I want to assure you that you will be most welcome if you take that leap of faith!
I’m a therapist who is passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where people feel comfortable being themselves. I believe therapy works best when it’s collaborative, respectful, and tailored to each person’s unique experiences and goals. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you as you navigate challenges, gain insight, and build practical skills for everyday life.
I work with individuals who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected, and I help them better understand their thoughts, emotions, and patterns so they can make meaningful changes. I draw from proven therapeutic approaches in a flexible, down-to-earth way, always moving at a pace that feels right for you.
Above all, I value authenticity, trust, and compassion in the therapeutic relationship. My goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and empowered to create a life that feels more balanced, fulfilling, and aligned with what matters most to you.
If you’re reading this, you’re probably carrying something heavy — and you may have been carrying it longer than you should have had to. I’m glad you’re here.
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in both New York and New Jersey, and I work with adults and couples who are navigating some of life’s most emotionally demanding seasons: parenting stress, relationship strain, depression, ADHD, and the kind of high-functioning exhaustion that doesn’t always look like struggle from the outside but absolutely feels like it.
My approach is relational at its core. I believe that healing rarely happens in isolation — it happens in connection. Before any technique or homework assignment, I prioritize building a therapeutic relationship where you actually feel safe enough to be honest. That foundation isn’t just good therapy etiquette; it’s what makes everything else possible.
From there, I draw on a range of evidence-based frameworks — attachment theory, CBT, DBT, and person-centered approaches — tailoring the work to what you specifically need rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. Some clients need tools and structure. Others need space to process and be witnessed. Most need both, at different moments.
I’ve worked with many people who came to therapy after putting it off for a long time — sometimes years. What kept them away was often fear: fear of judgment, fear of being misunderstood, or simply not knowing what therapy was supposed to feel like. I take that seriously. My goal from the very first session is to help you feel less alone in what you’re facing, and more capable of moving through it.
You don’t have to have it figured out before you reach out. That’s what we’re here to do together.
Life can feel overwhelming at times—especially when you’re navigating ongoing stress, anxiety, life transitions, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you.
