LCSW, 17 years of experience
New to Grow
I provide compassionate and person-centered mental health care. I have worked as a therapist for seventeen years in a variety of settings. I have worked as a therapist for outpatient mental health clinics in both New York and Connecticut, served as a clinician for a psychiatric rehabilitation center, and a clinician for the NYS court system. I served as a field instructor for Quinnipiac University, and I am passionate about my chosen vocation as a clinical social worker. I am currently a crisis clinician/mental health first responder and serve as a therapist in private practice. My expertise is in the field of CBT. In addition, I am formally trained and hold a degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies, which enables me to provide counseling from a Christian lens. I am also in the process of completing formal training in EMDR and have completed some clinical consultation hours already in EMDR. If you want a strong therapist in your corner- a therapist with nearly two decades of diverse clinical experience with advanced clinical practice wisdom, then I may be the right therapist for you.
The first therapy session is a chance for us to get to know one another better. During the first session, I would like to learn more about what brings you to therapy and to discuss ways that I may be able to help you in your specific life situation. We will discuss a treatment plan shortly thereafter, which is a roadmap of the main areas that we will explore together in therapy.
I am a good listener, empathic, and passionate about helping others. In addition to having a private psychotherapy practice, I serve as a mental health first responder during the daytime hours, and I strive to see positive results for my clients. I serve as a guide with you during your life's journey. My clinical approach is from a Christian lens, CBT-based, and EMDR treatment to help those with trauma symptoms.
My clinical expertise as a crisis social worker provides me with a unique and strong skillset to help individuals who are struggling with trauma experiences, depression, or with finding meaning in life. My passion is for crisis intervention, men's issues, helping clients with Trauma and/or PTSD symptoms, improving self-esteem for my clients, and Christian spirituality.
I have extensive experience in CBT and have been formally trained at the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City, and I have been practicing CBT for well over a decade. I have helped hundreds of clients overcome depression symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and stress symptoms via the use of CBT.
My faith is central to my life, and I have completed degree studies in Philosophy, Religious Studies and Psychology. I understand, embrace, and integrate faith-based tradition into clinical practice as a licensed therapist, as I believe that spirituality is the single most important factor in the cultivation of positive thinking, fruitful relationships, and being anchored in the present moment. I firmly believe that both the vertical and horizontal spheres are vital-meaning that spiritual questions allow us to fully understand ourselves in relationship to others and to God, even while on the solid ground of Earth.
I am currently in the process of completing formal EMDR training and have already completed some consultation hours. I firmly believe that EMDR has tremendous healing potential for traumatic experiences and allows a person to fully process and integrate traumatic memories so that a person can be released from the pain of trauma.
