You may have heard things like, “Just move on,” “let it go,” or “that’s in the past.” But if the pain is still there, if your heart feels heavy, if it affects your daily life, if you have to pretend everything is fine, or if it takes great effort just to get through your responsibilities, you may be experiencing trauma-related responses. Therapy offers a safe and supportive space where you can process what you’ve been through, validate your emotions, and develop healthy ways to heal and move forward. A trauma-focused approach allows us to work gently and effectively with your experiences while strengthening your emotional stability and sense of control. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), bilingual in English and Spanish, with extensive experience providing trauma-focused individual therapy. I earned my Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in Miami, Florida, and have been practicing as a mental health professional since 2017. Prior to working in the United States, I obtained my Bachelor’s degree and practiced as a Psychotherapist in Cuba for eight years.

I became a therapist after doing my own healing work and learning how powerful it can be to rebuild from the inside out. I predominantly work with young men struggling with social anxiety disorder. Do you struggle with social anxiety and poor self-confidence? I know that overcoming it is possible! Many come to therapy for social anxiety because of childhood trauma and how it has manifested in their adult lives. Often this manifests in feelings of poor self-confidence, poor self-worth, and poor self-confidence. At its root, the fundamental belief of those who have social anxiety is the belief, “I am not enough.” Clients get into the habit of comparing themselves to others and it makes them feel inadequate and insecure. Over time clients begin to avoid situations that elicit their anxiety, particularly social situations. This can lead to social isolation and loneliness. Clients will present with complaints of frequent panic attacks, not having a romantic partner, not having friends, not being happy in their jobs and feeling disconnected from life. They are labeled by others as shy, quiet, or introverted. This scenario described myself for much of my life which gives me lived experience to better able to assist you. I help individuals combat their social fears and begin to live a rich and fulfilling life. I do this through cognitive behavioral therapy techniques primarily but also integrate solution-focused therapy, assertiveness training, exposure therapy, and acceptance & commitment therapy. Whether you're a teen struggling to make friends and socialize or you are an adult unable to speak up at work meetings or unable to ask someone out on a date, I'm here for you! Seeking therapy can be frightening but I want to assure you that you will be most welcome if you take that leap of faith!

Have you ever felt like you cannot find the energy or motivation to do the most basic tasks? Or felt like your brain will not shut off? Have you ever struggled with losing someone that you love and feel as if you will never make it out of the fog? Have you experienced a traumatic event and need help managing the thoughts and feelings that come up after the experience? Are you feeling stuck in your life, or just listless? Are you struggling with substance abuse and the impact of usage in your professional and personal life? Do you have a history of self-harm or self-harming thoughts? If any of the above questions resonated with you, I am here for you. I bring over ten years of clinical counseling experience focused on depression, anxiety, end-of-life, grief therapy, substance abuse, self-harming thoughts and attempts, insomnia, and trauma therapy. I am seasoned in case management and navigating medical crises in the hospital environment. I enjoy helping my patients and families navigate end-of-life care planning. I am trained in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), brief CBT-I to treat Insomnia, and Guided Imagery to assist my patients with navigating a multitude of treatment needs. I am also certified in providing sexual assault survivor group counseling and psychoeducation. I love helping my patients see that they do have a purpose in this life and a reason to live it with happiness. I love seeing my clients learn techniques that they can independently use to continue to help themselves outside of the one-on-one time we have together. I find joy in seeing you succeed in your goals.

Are you feeling stuck, telling yourself that you are going to change, but somehow ending up doing exactly what you promised yourself you wouldn’t do? Do you convince yourself that you are going to move forward and then find that anxiety, hopelessness, harsh self-judgments, or a bad temper take control and push you backwards? Do you find yourself in relationship patterns that leave you feeling cut off from those you long to be close too? If this sounds familiar, you don't have to face this alone. There are reasons you feel this way, and you can discover what those reasons are and how you can change to live a more fulfilling life. You may feel stuck because the way you are trying to solve your problems is by going back to the same strategies that got you stuck in the first place. It can be confusing seeing yourself stuck in thoughts and behaviors you know don’t work. Often this is because in the moment those strategies appear to be the only sensible choice, even when they aren’t. If you choose to work with me, together we can explore the ins and outs of that confusion so that you can find your way out of it. Because that can often feel threatening and disorienting, I will be patient and give you the space and safety needed to do this work at your own pace. Be that fast or slow or in-between. I look forward to working with you.

I graduated Eastern Michigan University with a major in psychology and a minor in nutrition in 2007. I completed my PhD program at the University of Detroit Mercy in 2014. During that time period I worked with patients in outpatient and inpatient settings including the University psychology clinic, Wayne State Family Medicine Center, Providence Alaska Family Medicine Center, and Providence Alaska inpatient services.I’m a clinical psychologist (PhD) specializing in trauma, anxiety, depression, and the mind–body impact of stress. This includes medical trauma, chronic illness, health anxiety, and eating issues rooted in shame or self-criticism. The quality of your relationships has left you feeling anxious depressed, frustrated, disconnected, unseen, unheard, guilty, alone… But this isn’t the end of your story. Growth and change are within your capacity. Healing within your power. Hi, I’m Cathe and I believe in our ability to break generational traumas, to heal from wounds inflicted by those who didn’t know how or didn’t have the capacity to show up for us; and to learn how to show up for ourselves. Throughout the years I’ve worked with individual who struggled with addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma and provided counseling services to military services member and their families while deployed overseas. I witnessed the significant impact that relationships can have on your overall wellbeing. From my own personal experience; as I worked to unlearn what was no longer serving me and to rediscover my worth, I was presented with how fundamentally transformative this process can be. It’s led me to learn how to live with greater peace, to create and sustain connections and to feel safe and secure in love. It’s not an easy process nor is it a painless journey but it’s worth it. As for my credentials... I earned my Master’s degree at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for the state of Florida and territory of Guam, a board certified Telemental Health Provider and a Master’s Level Certified Addiction Professional. I am also a Qualified Clinical Supervisor which allows me to provide supervision to registered interns for Mental Health Counseling within the state of Florida. In 2018, while teaching as an adjust instructor in the social work department of Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, FL, I started my private practice as an independent contractor for a psychiatric practice. Since then I moved back to the Albany, NY area and branched out to see clients privately who live in NY as well as in Florida. I currently am licensed in NY, FL and North Carolina and can see clients that live in or migrate throughout the year among those three states.

I’m an attachment-based therapist, which means I believe that relationships—past and present—shape how we see ourselves and others. Whether you're an adolescent navigating the complexity of growing up, or an adult facing life’s challenges, I’m here to support you in understanding your experiences and how they’ve shaped your emotional world. I take a holistic approach to therapy, honoring the spiritual aspects of life while also grounding our work in compassion and connection. I understand that everyone’s story is unique, and I bring cultural sensitivity to my work to ensure that your background, identity, and lived experience are respected in our sessions. If you're dealing with anxiety, grief, trauma, or any other emotional or life challenge, I’ll work with you to unpack those feelings in a safe, supportive space. I use a blend of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic therapy and EMDR, tailored to what’s most helpful for you. Our work together is rooted in creating a space where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to make meaningful changes. My goal is simple: to help you explore your emotions, gain insight into what’s going on inside, and discover or rediscover your strengths. I want you to walk away from each session feeling a little more grounded, a little more whole, and confident in your ability to heal and grow. I work well with people who are ready to do the work—whether that’s unpacking painful past experiences or making sense of current struggles. You might be someone who is struggling with anxiety, grief, loss, or the effects of trauma. You might be looking for clarity in your relationships, or searching for more self-understanding and self-worth. Whatever you’re going through, I’m here to help guide you through it with care, respect, and patience.
