Hello! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with 18 years of experience serving individuals, couples, and families in Indiana. My Master's degree from Northern Illinois University provided a strong foundation for the diverse therapeutic strategies and models I use to help clients navigate complex relationship challenges. I focus on thorough assessments, accurate diagnoses, and the development of tailored solutions to foster improved communication, emotional well-being, and overall functioning for everyone I work with.
You can anticipate a supportive and non-judgmental space where we begin to develop a therapeutic connection and lay the foundation for our ongoing work. Ultimately, my goal is to help clients gain increased self-awareness and understanding, improved emotional regulation and coping skills, enhanced relationship skills, increased confidence and self-esteem, and a greater sense of well-being and fulfillment through our sessions.
With 18 years of experience and training in various therapeutic models, I can adapt my strategies to fit the unique needs, goals, and preferences of each client, couple, or family. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach and strive to be flexible and responsive.
I am well-equipped to support clients who want to understand and improve their overall emotional, mental, or physical well-being. My training allows me to effectively assist individuals, couples, and families facing challenges stemming from their connections with others. This includes providing a supportive space to navigate difficult life transitions like career changes, loss, family restructuring, or personal growth, helping them process emotions and develop coping strategies. I offer insightful perspectives to individuals curious about how their thoughts, feelings, and past influence their interactions, working collaboratively to foster healthier relational patterns. Furthermore, I help clients develop essential skills for healthy relationships, such as effective communication, boundary setting, and conflict resolution. My understanding of family systems and relational dynamics enables me to guide individuals in healing from past relational wounds and building healthier connections in the present. This also extends to those whose current challenges, like anxiety or low self-esteem, are rooted in past family dynamics, friendships, or partnerships, even if they are not currently in a romantic relationship.
Cisco Zepeda offers therapy covered by Managed Health Services (Managed Medicaid), Medicaid - Managed Health Services and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Indiana.
Being eclectic in my therapeutic approach I can be even more flexible when tailoring treatment to each person's unique needs, goals, and preferences instead of sticking rigidly to one specific therapy style.
Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy with individuals in my practice has been a transformative and empowering experience for both me and my clients. At its core, IFS views the mind not as a singular entity, but as a collection of different "parts" – like an internal family. Everyone has these parts, along with a core, undamaged "Self" (think of it as wisdom, compassion, and clarity) I've found IFS to be incredibly effective because it's non-pathologizing and inherently compassionate. Instead of labeling a client's "symptoms" as problems to be fixed, we see them as protective strategies developed by various parts to keep the client safe, often due to past hurts
As a therapist, I have utilized EMDR therapy to assist people in processing the emotional and psychological distress resulting from traumatic events. I frequently employ this method when helping people with PTSD, anxiety, and other conditions linked to trauma.
