New to Grow
I have several years of experience treating individuals, families, and adolescents using a holistic, empathic, and trauma-informed approach. Watching friends and family struggle with mental health and substance abuse issues fueled my passion for helping those who struggle with these difficulties from a place of understanding, patience, and empathy. I received a BA in psychology first, which led to obtaining a substance abuse certificate. I gained experience working with families and individuals and, after some time, I was ready to further my education and obtained a Master of Social Work. This helped me expand my clinical skills and learn more targeted therapy modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, psychoanalytical care, and art therapy. I found these approaches are a great synthesis of neuroscience, trauma, and creativity.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
My approach during therapy sessions is to create a safe, nonjudgmental, empathic space that allows for growth and learning. I take the time to understand your point of view by taking into consideration your values, beliefs, culture, and life experiences. I tailor interventions based on your interests, strengths, and abilities with opportunities to practice learned skills between sessions. During the first session I'll get to know you by completing an initial assessment where I ask about your history and your goals for therapy. I sometimes assign homework Which can include watching videos or completing A handout.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Since there is no one-size-fits-all approach in therapy I like to utilize various types of treatment modalities based on the client's goals And strengths. The modalities that I like to choose from are as follows: Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Psychodynamic, Attachment Based, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Art Therapy, Psychoanalytic, Behavioral Couples Therapy, Attachment Based Family Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, Strategic Family Therapy, Behavior Modification, Solution Focused Couples Therapy, Strength-Based, Schema, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Multi-Systemic (MST), Narrative Therapy, Structural Family, Positive Psychology, Motivational Interviewing. I'd like to think that I'm a very well-rounded therapist meaning I like to meet the client where they're at while still pushing them out of the their comfort zone and giving them the skills to do so.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I believe that every person has the ability to overcome life challenges. Sometimes, these challenges build up and become overwhelming and can cause difficulties in social, emotional, and behavioral well-being. This can look like anxiety, depression, feeling stuck and alone. My role is to collaborate with clients on creating treatment goals and developing interventions that focus on building on their strengths and realistic ways to cope with barriers in the way of reaching these goals. The therapeutic approaches that I use focus a lot on emotional regulation, mindfulness and distress tolerance.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions to improve emotional well-being and daily functioning.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
