You may have been feeling as though you've been given a life without an instruction manual. Relationships might be challenging for you, and in comparing yourself to other people, you feel like something is missing, that might explain how you end up with the "same person" over and over - the disrespectful, distant, controlling or dismissive person that the previously-ideal partner became, after a while.
This is a pattern that can occur with Complex PTSD, a common situation with many of the clients I speak to, which can be resolved with psychoeducation and trauma therapy. You may also have other symptoms you think are simply "just how I am" such as dissociation, low mood/depression, anxiety and hypervigilance about your own social behaviors - constantly overthinking and regretting, shaming yourself for not doing or saying "the right thing." C-PTSD can co-occur with other disorders as well. The good news is, you can change. A trauma-informed therapist is a great first step on that journey.
I'm so glad you're taking this step to prioritize your mental health—it's the foundation of everything else in life.

I am a psychologist with over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health across all levels of care. I have provided Individual, couples, family, and group counseling. I brought my years of experience to the tele-mental health world to offer the solution to time management and logistical issues to many individuals who might otherwise find it difficult to show up to their psychotherapy appointment and found much success with that approach. I have spent a large portion of my life facilitating overcoming the struggle with anxiety or pushing through depression, or one of the many emotionally debilitating mental health issues. Psychological and emotional pain is real, yet it can be managed, and we can heal.

Hello, i'm Randy. Despite having the title of being a therapist, I believe that no matter how many years of work experience a therapist has, and no matter how many credentials/degrees a therapist has, all of that goes out the window if they don't have the ability to click and level with their clients. Initiating therapy services may feel like a leap of faith; as one would have to initiate a process in which they will be meeting with a therapist who is a complete stranger to them in the beginning. So congratulations on taking the first step for seeking treatment !
I have worked with a variety of clientele throughout my career in the mental health field; which consisted of 3 years of working with adults, and 3 years of working with children/adolescents aged 3-17, as well as the adult population.
