I am a down-to-earth and collaborative therapist who believes that the foundation of effective healing is a genuine, honest connection. I prioritize creating a transparent environment where you feel heard and respected, allowing us to work as true partners in your mental health journey. My approach is grounded in the belief that therapy is most effective when it is practical, straightforward, and focused on your unique reality. In our sessions, I value honesty and the identification of healthy, realistic goals. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), where we work together to uncover the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By identifying irrational thinking patterns and challenging negative self-talk, we can begin to reframe your narrative in a way that serves your growth rather than hindering it. I understand that starting therapy can feel like a significant step, which is why I focus on providing a non-judgmental space where we can tackle challenges at your pace. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, daily stress, or life transitions, my goal is to provide you with a functional toolkit of strategies you can use long after our sessions end. Together, we will move toward a more balanced, resilient, and fulfilling life.

Maple Moriji was born on December 29, 1970 in Tokyo, Japan, an only child of a Japanese father and Danish mother. Instead of enrolling at a Japanese school, he attended a private international school called the American School in Japan (ASIJ). At ASIJ, he befriended other third culture children of different nationalities from across the globe. In 1989, he graduated from ASIJ and moved to Washington, DC where he enrolled at George Washington University. He received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 1994 after which he began his career in information technology. He eventually relocated to Los Angeles in 1998 and subsequently became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2004. After having worked in the corporate world for over 13 years, he was prompted by his lifelong interest in human psychology to become a Marriage and Family Therapist and enrolled at Antioch University in 2009. Over the years, he explored the subject extensively, attended a conference for Victims Of Incest Can Emerge Survivors (VOICES) in Action, and studied depth psychology at C.G. Jung Club of Orange County. Starting in October 2010, he began seeing clients regularly for psychotherapy at inpatient and outpatient facilities including The Center in Long Beach, Tarzana Treatment Centers, Solid Landings Behavioral Health, Hope by the Sea, Personal Involvement Center, Oceanfront Recovery and BLVD Treatment Centers. In private practice, he has been treating clients using a number of different approaches including EMDR since November 2012. In December 2011, he received a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. His calling is to specialize in treating clients who have struggled with issues related to cultural diversity and who have suffered from trauma while growing up (such as childhood sexual abuse). As of March 2017, he has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

I am a straight-forward but empathic therapist, who also appreciates the same from her clients. I also believe in the social work mission of starting where the client is, so sessions are based upon that analogy. I have experience in many areas, including hospital, foster care, group homes, forensics, Veterans, home health, etc. I received my Masters of Social Science Administration from Case Western Reserve Univerity, and my Doctorate of Psychology from California Southern University. Although I have a doctorate degree, my scope of practice does not fall under psychological testing, pharmacological practices, nor community services. I only do individual therapy so if you need case management (such as letters), family/couples therapy, psychologicial testing, or medication, please refer to those licensed or practicing in those areas.

My journey to becoming a therapist started 29 years ago on a personal recovery journey, recovering from personal trauma and addiction in the entire system growing up including family, and coming from a low SES background, therapy became a way to reconcile the change I was going through in my life. Working with and helping others has always been a calling of mine, and becoming a psychologist was a natural extension of that ongoing work on both myself and in my work with others. Beginning with a humanistic approach means meeting the client where they are at, and then conceptualizing the approach with a combination of humanistic and positive psychology, systems theory, and recovery-oriented systems of care.

Hey there, I'm a Millennial/Gen-Z Filipino-American Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing tele-psychotherapy. I have worked with young adults to seniors who have gone through significant life struggles or might have a curiosity toward their reactions and perspectives in life. I have worked with clients to alleviate symptoms of overwhelm, anxiety, depression, psychosis, sleep issues, and hopelessness. I primarily pull from acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR-informed therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I believe that the power of therapy is found in being able to be seen and because of this, I strive to authentically listen to those I work with. While I acknowledge that evidence-based practices are important, I genuinely believe the root power of therapy is within the connection between therapist and client. My practice is driven by “meeting the client where they are at.” I received my Master of Social Work degree at California State University San Marcos, where I was a clinical intern for an alternative middle/high school and an intensive outpatient program with Sharp Hospital. I earned my Bachelor of Social Welfare degree from University of California Berkeley. While at Berkeley, I interned for a grassroots agency that served persons experiencing homelessness in the Tenderloin.

Few, if any, of us grow up in an environment that perfectly fits our needs. As we grow, we adapt to our surroundings in ways that may run counter to our vitality, health, and happiness. By exploring and understanding the underlying emotional and psychological patterns that shape our lives, we are able to develop choice in whether to engage in patterns and habits that no longer serve us. As a psychotherapist, I provide a curious, and compassionate presence, lending my heart and mind to this process of self-exploration and self-understanding.

Hello! I am a provider who utilizes solution-focused, mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral therapy practices to help others address challenges and create a more balanced life. I am drawn to both rational and holistic practices, but it really starts with your goals and preferences. At 19-years old, I was involved in a traumatic motor vehicle accident and spent several years recovering- both physically and emotionally. This experience has led me toward the field of counseling and wanting to work directly with people needing support and guidance. I completed my undergraduate degree at University of California, San Diego with specialization in Clinical Psychology. After graduation, I volunteered for an equine therapy program and provided therapy services for children with Autism. After several years, I decided to pursue a Masters in Social Work at California State University San Marcos. I have worked in Dialysis outpatient, psychiatric, educational and research settings and have found it valuable to provide services to many different types of communities. I am glad that you have considered reaching out for therapy. I hope to be a part of your journey.

I am a dedicated and highly motivated client-focused Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California. Therapy does not have to be dry, boring, or scary and it's okay to have fun in therapy. We all share in the HUMAN EXPERIENCE! So I may not have the same experiences as you, however, I know what feels like to make mistakes, experience hurt, love, loss, pain, and fear. I also know what it’s like to rebuild myself and have success again. Everyone experiences a range of thoughts, feelings, emotions, and situations that shape and mold us. Therefore, working with people, in their time of need motivates me to assist them in finding balance in their lives. (*If you are ordered by the courts to attend therapy then you would need to find another clinician as I do not do court appointed therapy. Also, if you are dealing with suicidal ideations or self-harm I do not specialize in that and would direct you to clinicians that are best suited to assist you. Thank you for your understanding).

Motherhood can be one of life's most meaningful transitions, but it can also bring unexpected challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief, identity shifts, relationship changes, and feelings of isolation. Whether you are trying to conceive, navigating pregnancy, adjusting to life after birth, or coping with pregnancy or infant loss, you don't have to face it alone. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I specialize in supporting women through the emotional complexities of the perinatal period. My approach is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed care and guided by cultural humility, recognizing that every person's experiences, values, and family story are unique. Alongside my professional training, I bring lived experience as a mother, which deepens my understanding of the joys, vulnerabilities, and profound life changes that can accompany pregnancy and parenthood. While every journey is different, I understand how overwhelming this season can feel and strive to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. I approach therapy through a non-pathologizing, strengths-based lens, believing that many emotional struggles during the perinatal period are understandable responses to significant life transitions rather than personal failures. Therapy is a collaborative process where we can explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion, strengthen your coping skills, reconnect with your sense of self, and build confidence as you move forward. My goal is to help you feel understood, empowered, and supported as you navigate this chapter with greater resilience, self-compassion, and hope.

I am the proud parent of seven children—three biological, two fostered, and two adopted. With my youngest recently turning 18, I am embracing an exciting new chapter of life. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time outdoors at the lake, beach, or mountains, hiking, picnicking, and appreciating the peace that nature provides. My greatest joy is spending time with family and friends, especially my grandchildren. I believe healing happens through connection, compassion, and courage, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as you navigate your journey toward greater wellness, growth, and fulfillment.

Yes! If you use Gold Coast Health Plan Total Care Advantage (HMO D-SNP) you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Gold Coast Health Plan Total Care Advantage (HMO D-SNP) you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
