Robert McShane
I bring an action oriented approach to therapy in helping clients address and better understand the patterns that keep them feeling stuck, disconnected, and unfulfilled. I specialize in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, addiction, anger, trauma, and compulsive behaviors.
I specialize in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, addiction, anger, trauma, and compulsive behaviors.
I also support business leaders and professional artists who grapple with fatigue, executive demands, and the toll their positions take on self identity and interpersonal relationships. Stepping into therapy for the first time or returning can feel like a challenging and exhaustive process as you search for the right fit. In therapy I provide a setting for self exploration, healing, and most importantly, a plan for action.
First session
My goal is that you leave feeling heard and more at ease about starting therapy, with a clearer sense of what you want help with and how we might work together.
Strengths
I bring a steady and direct presence to sessions. I listen closely, ask honest questions, and help clients turn insight into meaningful change. My own life experiences have deepened my respect for how difficult change can be. So I meet clients with understanding and empathy, while also offering insight and direction that open up to new perspectives.
Ideal clients
I work primarily with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, grief, trauma, or patterns they want to change. Many are used to managing a lot on their own and may find it hard to slow down, ask for support, or make sense of what they’re feeling. They’re looking for a therapist who listens closely, speaks honestly, and can offer deeper understanding alongside practical tools.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps us look at how thoughts, feelings, and actions affect each other. We use that to spot patterns and try different ways of responding.
