Do people constantly need things from you and you feel overwhelmed with the amount of responsibility you have yet feel guilty when you say “no?” Do you snap at your kids or partner and then spiral in shame for hours? Do you grind your teeth at night and walk around with a tight chest and knots in your stomach throughout the day and have just decided it’s your “normal?” I work with women who look successful on the outside and seem to be able to “keep it together” but constantly feel irritable, exhausted, and if we’re being honest, resentful. (And then guilty about feeling resentful.) My work is designed for women like you, those who are capable, self-aware, who want to be able to give to those they love (without the resentment) and are ready for meaningful change. Together, we move beyond surface-level coping strategies and address the deeper roots of self-sabotage. Through a highly personalized, one-on-one approach, we uncover the unconscious patterns driving these behaviors, strengthen self-trust, and build the internal safety needed to create lasting change. This is not about fixing what’s “wrong” with you. It’s about helping you feel grounded, confident, and fulfilled in a life you’ve already worked hard to build, without burning out or betraying yourself along the way.

I'm Dr. Ehsan Adib Shabahang, founder of AtReef Therapy PLLC and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and National Certified Counselor based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I hold a PhD in Psychology with a concentration in social psychology and a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My practice provides integrative, depth-oriented therapy for couples and individuals, conducted entirely through secure telehealth. I work most often with high-achieving adults and couples who function well professionally but find themselves facing patterns that intelligence, success, or effort alone have not resolved: recurring conflict, emotional distance, perfectionism, burnout, anxiety, and questions about identity, meaning, and direction. My clinical approach draws on relational and depth psychology, Jungian psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy, integrated according to each client's needs rather than applied as a fixed protocol. I am also the developer of Self-Reflective Relationship Therapy (SRRT), a research-informed framework that emphasizes self-reflection, emotional responsibility, and translating insight into real behavioral change. Therapy with me is not only about understanding why a pattern exists. Insight matters, but it is not the goal on its own. I focus equally on what changes in your communication, boundaries, emotional regulation, and decisions once that understanding is in place. I see couples working through betrayal, disconnection, and recurring cycles of conflict, and I see individuals navigating anxiety, burnout, identity transitions, and the gap between a capable public self and a more uncertain private one. I also bring particular attention to intercultural relationships and cross-cultural identity, informed by my own doctoral research and background working across cultures. If you are looking for a therapist who will engage directly, take your patterns seriously, and hold you accountable to real change rather than surface-level coping strategies, I would be glad to work with you.

Hi, I’m Joe. I’ve worked in the mental health field for 27 years across substance use treatment, outpatient care, and hospital settings. I’ve supported individuals and families through crisis, transition, and long-term growth. I work well with young adults, adults, and families who are navigating stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, or major life changes. I also have extensive experience working with men who may struggle to express emotions directly and instead feel stuck in withdrawal, irritability, or self-doubt. As a veteran, I understand the mindset and pressures that can come with military life. I received a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Florida and have 10 + years’ experience as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Most of my experience is dealing with women’s issues and how voice is found in a paternalistic society. I use a Family Systems lens as we bring our family with us even when we come as individuals. In my work with clients, I create a space of openness and acceptance as to what is present in the client’s life. I believe that clients have an innate ability to create healing for themselves, and I shepherd that process. I use a Mindfulness-Based Awareness practice and a participatory approach - to create solutions. As a client commits themselves to the process, they can expect increased awareness and see themselves and their issues more clearly. This awareness oftentimes brings with it a heightened ability to solve issues that are creating roadblocks.

I decided to be a counselor because I understood the importance of someone who looks like me doing this work. My goal is to create an open and affirming space for everyone including, Black bodies, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those creating healthy non-traditional relationships. Anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and trauma are common issues that can impact your day to day lives and close relationships no matter your background. By the end of therapy, you will be more confident in speaking up for yourself and creating healthy boundaries. I utilize a strength-based approach that combines different therapeutic modalities that address generational trauma, negative self-talk, and strategies to improve your mood. Hi, I’m Jessica Vargas LCSW, LISW and I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can be honest, understood, and supported without judgment. Life can become overwhelming, whether you’re navigating relationship challenges, stress, major life changes, anxiety, depression, or simply feeling stuck and unsure of what comes next. My approach is warm, compassionate, and practical. I work collaboratively with each client to understand what is happening beneath the surface while developing realistic tools and strategies that can create meaningful change. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Your experiences, goals, and strengths are unique, and our work together should reflect that. I work with teens, adults, and couples who may be struggling with emotional challenges, relationship concerns, communication, self-esteem, life transitions, family conflict, stress, or other challenges that are making it difficult to feel like themselves. For couples, I provide a supportive space to improve communication, understand patterns within the relationship, and work toward a healthier connection. As a therapist, I strive to create an environment where you feel comfortable being yourself—even when things feel messy or difficult. My goal isn’t simply to help you get through a challenging moment, but to help you better understand yourself, build confidence in your ability to cope, and develop skills that continue to serve you beyond therapy. Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. If you’re ready to make a change, I’m here to help you take that first step.

A client comes in to see her therapist and is 10 minutes late. She sits down and apologizes for her tardiness, to which the therapist replies that no apologies are necessary as clients are only late for their first session. The vignette illustrates something that I see in clients repeatedly who come into my office. Many should have come in at least a year or two ago but for some reason think that the problems they experience are still manageable. While I admire the will of many of those who still manage life like the proverbial Dutch Boy and the dike, I believe that asking for help is a strength of its own. In therapy, I come from the perspective of someone that had to receive help at various times in my life. I've also had a meandering career path, meaning that I've worked in several fields and industries prior to becoming a therapist and have been able to do ground-level empathizing with people who work in blue and white-collar professions.

There’s no denying that life isn’t always a walk in the park. While I’m sure you can relate to this as an adult, the same goes for kids, teens, and college-age students. Don’t forget, they’re going through this life without a manual, just as you are. But life is also spectacularly beautiful. Unfortunately, the trials faced during any phase of life can often dim that beauty and hold your child back from living the life they deserve. Anxiety, depression, and self-doubt can creep into anyone's life at any age. Mental health challenges can rob them of happiness, self-confidence, and life-fulfillment. I get it. I’ve been in their shoes. As an experienced, understanding, and caring counselor for teens, children, and young adults. I can help support your child, whether they are elementary-school-aged, in the turbulent teenage years, or college-aged. And, because I value being an advocate for kids and an ally for parents, I can support you, too.

Motherhood is a profound journey marked by both beauty and upheaval. Whether your path to this moment has been long-anticipated or unexpected, the transition into motherhood often brings a whirlwind of emotions. Anxiety and depression during pregnancy and the postpartum period are more common than many realize, with maternal depression being the leading complication of childbirth. Hello, and welcome! My name is Christy Liger, and I am a Florida native of Haitian heritage and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 10 years of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based therapeutic services. My background and experiences have shaped my appreciation for the importance of culture, family, and each person’s unique life journey. I believe that seeking support is a courageous step, and I strive to create a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered. I have experience working with individuals navigating mood and emotional concerns, trauma, attention-related challenges, health-related challenges, and significant life transitions. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, adjusting to a new season of life, or simply trying to better understand yourself and figure out what you want next, you don’t have to have all the answers before starting therapy. My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I’ll meet you where you are, and together we’ll explore what’s going on, identify what matters most to you, and develop practical tools that you can actually use in your everyday life. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, so we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you while helping you gain greater self-awareness, build confidence, develop healthier ways of coping, and feel more prepared for whatever comes next.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida (but in my past life, I was a writer and a yoga teacher!). I graduated with my MSW from Florida Atlantic University in 2023. Prior to entering private practice, I interned and worked in the substance use treatment industry for five years. While I’ve worked with a diverse range of individuals, couples, and families over the course of my career thus far, I spent my first three years in the industry working at a substance use treatment facility that serves the LGBTQIA+ population: a beautiful and eye-opening experience. Outside of private practice work, I currently facilitate groups at a mental health facility several times/week.

I believe healing begins with understanding. Many of the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that bring people to therapy are not signs of weakness or failure—they are often adaptations that developed in response to difficult experiences, stress, or adversity. While these patterns may have helped you cope or protect yourself at one point in your life, they can sometimes create challenges in relationships, work, and overall well-being. My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and collaborative. I strive to create a space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to explore their experiences without judgment. Together, we will work to understand not only what is happening in your life, but also why certain patterns may have developed and whether they continue to serve you today. Earlier experiences in my own life taught me that adversity can shape the way we view ourselves, others, and the world around us. Through these experiences, I developed a deep appreciation for how the mind and nervous system adapt to help us navigate challenges. The mind is designed to prioritize safety and survival, and many of the symptoms people experience are understandable responses to difficult circumstances rather than character flaws. While these adaptations may have been necessary at one point, healing often involves learning new ways of responding that better support the life you want to build. I work with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, and self-esteem concerns. My goal is to help clients increase self-awareness, build resilience, strengthen boundaries, and develop practical tools for lasting change. Together, we can help you better understand yourself, reconnect with your strengths, and move forward with greater confidence, flexibility, and self-compassion.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Florida. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Florida from Miami to Jacksonville! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Florida.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
