Hola! My name is Camilo Avila, I'm a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Texas with over 7 years of experience. I received my Masters from Texas A&M University - San Antonio. We all love a good underdog story! Why though? Because we are relating to those low points in our lives where we were the "underdog" and to see them overcoming their struggles and challenges gives us hope and inspiration! I love working with people who are ready to make a positive change in their lives! There's nothing more exciting than personal transformation through determined, positive change! See you soon! Hola! Una de las razones es porque nos inspira esperanza, en mi opinion, todos nos podemos identificar con "el candidato a perder" de vez en cuando. En la vida hay veces que todo sale bien y nos va bien en todo, pero hay veces que sentimos todo lo contrario. Are you feeling lost or alone? Do you feel unseen or unheard? Do you feel you are holding everything together? As a marriage and family therapist specializing in adult family relationships, I am passionate about helping individuals and families navigate through their most challenging times with authenticity to their own values while also achieving deeper connections with their spouses, or their families. With over 10 years of experience in the field, I work with you to create a safe and supportive environment for you to share their deepest concerns and take the steps you always knew you could! Family dynamics can be complex, especially as individuals navigate through adulthood. You may find old patterns hard to shake. Through careful reflection, we explore patterns of brokenness in order to promote true healing and lasting change. You can develop a deeper understanding of familial patterns and behaviors, and ultimately foster stronger, healthier relationships. Many of those I work with are self-proclaimed perfectionists, Type A Personalities, and high Achievers experiencing burnout. Often, this burnout stems from feeling like "no one else will step up" so you do. We work together to learn to lay the heavy load down and show up fully as yourself in order to create a more balanced work/life balance. We identify beliefs supporting driven behavior and pressures living. While also taking steps to put sustainable boundaries in place and strengthen your relationships so you can have real periods of relaxation without the guilt! I am committed to empowering you to lead a fulfilling, meaningful life. I believe that everyone deserves to feel heard, supported, and understood, and together we find the tools and resources to make that a reality.

As a Christian woman, you want a therapist who understands both your faith and your struggles without judgement. I help women who feel anxious, overwhelmed, and unlike themselves find steadiness in their emotions, their relationships, and their walk with God. Maybe you’ve noticed changes in your mood, find yourself overthinking, or have questions about relationships that matter to you. It could be that you are going through a difficult season, hormonal changes related to perimenopause or PMDD, or due to memories and hurts that still affect you today. You may be telling yourself that if you prayed more or tried harder, you’d be fine. I hear this a lot. You’re not going crazy, and you’re not weak. What used to work just isn’t working right now. As a bilingual (English & Español), licensed therapist with 20 years of experience, I’ve walked with many women of all ages through hard seasons. In our sessions, we’ll figure out what’s going on and work on practical ways to calm your mind, manage your emotions, and relate to yourself with great self-compassion. As a Christian therapist, I can draw on biblical truths alongside proven approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, so your faith becomes part of your healing. If you’d rather keep faith out of our sessions, that’s completely okay too. También ofrezco terapia en español.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, mentally unsteady, or unsure how to move forward — you don’t have to carry that alone. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and graduate of North Carolina State University. I work with adults navigating anxiety, burnout, life transitions, relationship stress, and questions of direction or purpose. Many of the people I support feel capable and motivated — yet internally worn down, struggling to feel grounded, present, or confident in themselves. My primary focus is helping clients stabilize emotionally and mentally — so you feel more anchored, regulated, and clear. From that place of steadiness, we begin to explore how you can grow into the fullest version of yourself, making the most of your strengths, values, and lived experience rather than trying to become someone you’re not. Therapy with me is not about pushing or fixing — it’s about creating a solid foundation where clarity, confidence, and meaningful change can naturally emerge. For those who find meaning and strength in their Christian faith, I welcome that as part of our work together — though spirituality is never required or assumed. You bring what matters to you, and we build from there.

Maudlyn Howell-Nwaogwugwu is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in Texas with extensive experience in inpatient, outpatient, and private practice settings. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology/sociology in 1996 and her master’s degree in counseling psychology in 2005. Her professional calling and ministry of help have been shaped by both clinical training and lived experience with trauma. Maudlyn specializes in trauma-focused care, including intergenerational trauma, anxiety, depression, and mood-related concerns. She approaches healing as a scientist of the soul, helping individuals explore emotional, relational, and spiritual wounds, reinterpret painful experiences, and develop healthier internal narratives that restore safety and stability. Inspired by Jeremiah 8:22 and Psalm 1, Maudlyn integrates faith with evidence-based practice. She is EMDR trained and views this work as clearing emotional and spiritual blockages so wounds can heal and lives can become rooted, resilient, and whole. She walks alongside her folks with compassion, offering a space for reflection, restoration, and peace. Her folks are reminded they are not defined by the words of others, but by their Creator—my folks are a Designer Originals. WELCOME HOME!

I am a wife, mother, and woman of faith who is passionate about helping women navigate the many challenges life can bring. As the spouse of an Air Force service member for 22 years, I had the opportunity to live in many places around the world, giving me a deep appreciation for resilience, change, and the unique experiences that shape each person's story. Today, I proudly call San Antonio, Texas home and feel honored to serve women of faith across the state. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel safe, heard, and encouraged. Whether you're facing a difficult season, adjusting to life's changes, or simply looking for support and guidance, I strive to create a compassionate environment where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and goals without judgment. Together, we'll build on your strengths, deepen your understanding of yourself, and work toward meaningful, lasting growth while honoring your personal values and faith.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Texas. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Texas from Houston to Austin! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Texas.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
