I’m Maria J Gonzales, a Bilingual therapist (English and Spanish). Reflecting on your life takes courage and bravery. Seeking help can be scary and confusing, but it's an important step towards improvement. I create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life stressors, and/or self-care. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Counseling can foster personal development in whatever way you may be seeking and help build the life you so deeply deserve. When you are ready to share, I am available.
During the first session, we will get to know each other, briefly introduce ourselves, and discuss the main struggles, problems, and concerns. This helps me create a tailored plan for our follow-up sessions.
Bilingual Therapists provide support to families and individuals through professional and inspirational counseling and life coaching. With over 18 years of experience, I have worked with diverse populations, including those dealing with trauma, crisis, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and relationship issues.
I love working and helping people who feel stuck due to stress, anxiety, and depression and need guidance to regain balance in their lives again.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
A supportive and inclusive environment assists patients in recognizing and understanding how negative thinking contributes to emotional distress. It also enables them to challenge and change such negative thoughts and unhelpful behaviors that impact their daily lives. Provide psychoeducation techniques and coping skills that help them to manage stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms.
Compassion Focused
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) is a psychological approach designed to help individuals develop and enhance their ability to be compassionate toward themselves and others. The theory behind CFT recognizes that many people struggle with self-criticism, shame, and feelings of inadequacy, which can contribute to emotional distress and mental health challenges. By cultivating compassion, both internally and externally, CFT aims to reduce negative emotions and foster a sense of well-being.
Christian Counseling
I incorporate a variety of evidence-based therapies, holistic healing practices, and faith-based Counseling elements into my practice as the client requested.
Biofeedback
Psychoeducation and relaxation techniques assist the client in regulating their emotional distress.
Trauma-Focused CBT
Most adults have at least a few memories that are downright painful. On the lighter end, there are those embarrassing experiences that cause you to cringe, even decades later. Then, there’s heavier stuff, like heartbreak, loss, and regret. These memories are more than a series of facts and images—they also carry powerful emotions that feel like a punch to the gut every time they surface. Trauma stories are often shared organically through conversation, both in and out of treatment. Sometimes, the organic retelling of a traumatic experience can be disruptive, especially if it’s in an inappropriate setting (e.g., work or school). Learning to use trauma narratives purposefully with your clients allows you to control for these potential problems.

I felt very comfortable talking to Dr. Gonzales. She acknowledged my struggles and helped me put names to emotions I have been dealing with, which is always a great start! I finished my first session feeling hopeful :)
