(she/her)
Greetings. I am Cassandra, a RN and a Licensed and Board Certified Trauma informed and Neuropsychotherapist. I would be pleased to have the opportunity to serve as your Trusted Professional Therapist. I completed my undergraduate nursing education at Howard University and Prairie View A and M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1988. I completed my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling in 2015 from Liberty University. I have more than three decades of comprehensive Healthcare and Mental Health experience. As a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Professional Therapist, I desire to use my comprehensive Healthcare background to provide a unique and beneficial counseling experience for my clients. My primary Therapeutic model is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness therapy, and Spirituality and other Therapeutic methods per client request. I approach my clients with dignity, compassion, and respect and am accepting of them wherever they are in their cycle of life. It would be my honor to serve as your Therapist and to assist you to identify and address the challenges you may be facing in life. I encourage you to allow me to assist you on your healing journey. I would be happy to have you schedule an appointment for a complimentary 15 minute consultation or an actual intake session. I accept most insurance plans, EAP, and Cash-pay clients.
In our initial session, I will seek to understand why you are seeking therapy at this time. We will have a brief introduction where I will share information and reviews related to my practice and background. We will look at the basic dynamics of the therapeutic process and what a typical session may consist of. We will address therapy guidelines, answer questions, and the process of filing a compliant or having any concerns addressed. We will cover the attendance expectation, canceling and NO SHOW guidelines and any associated fees. Though this is not an emergency platform, we will address emergency protocols should those arise. As well as any other concerns that may arise as we engage with one another and any unique circumstances.
My greatest strengths are that I possess a comprehensive background in healthcare and mental health experiences that contribute to my unique approach to the therapeutic experience. This has greatly contributed to my client's success in their reaching their therapeutic goals. I am intentional and skilled in not only providing a unique approach to therapy, but also educating my clients in such a way that they understand why things are presented as they are related to emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.
The clients I am most skilled in working with are clients that are dealing with emotional concerns such as excessive anxiety, depression, grief, and some traumatic experiences such as PTSD. Also those that may just be having difficulty processing aspects of their life that they may need someone to help them assess and process.
I have been utilizing CBT since the inception of my professional career as a Professional therapist. This is the number therapeutic model for emotional dysfunctional concerns, such as anxiety, depression, grief and other emotional concerns. I utilize CBT to assist clients to identify the root causes and subconscious mind programming that is driving the emotional presentation they may be experiencing.
I am historically a Certified Christian Counselor and ordained minister. I am very well versed in Biblical principle. I am comfortable assisting clients, to the degree that they feel comfortable, to implement prayer and other spiritual modalities to assist the client on their spiritual healing journey, per client request. t
ACT is a therapeutic model that integrates principles of therapy that allows me to assist clients to better manage their lives by analyzing behavior, commitment issues, and the ability to be present and open to experiences that will allow them to live a full and more balanced life.
I seek to assist couples to address, analyze, and assess root cause issues that are leading to the conflicts they are experiencing in their relationship dynamics. The couple is assisted to assess core belief, spiritual/ religious belief systems, and values that each of them hold that may be making the identified conflicts difficult. We then work a strategic process to get to an overall better space that makes the healing journey more successful.
I seek to assist my clients to address their loss in a healthy way and grieve properly. We will look at the Seven stages of grief, so you may be able to assess where you are on the continuum of healing from the loss or transition. We will address when grieve is healthy and when it may be crossing over to a more unhealthy place, so hopefully you can heal in a healthy way.
