With more than 15 years of experience in treating people with mental health issues, I have confidence in my ability to help you. Over the course of my career, I have had success with clients ranging in acuity from mildly depressed to hospitalized. I have seen amazing changes in clients who’ve struggled with trauma and addiction in their lives, and I have aided clients who have felt that they were too stuck to change. In almost all situations, I have been able to make a strong impact, and I hope to do the same with you. In addition to being a therapist, I have been the director of multiple mental health facilities. I have had thousands of clients directly under my care. I have worked at developing new therapists and polishing seasoned therapists. And, I have learned so much about helping people along the way. I am excited to work with clients of all populations. I am flexible in my approach, and I thrive with everyone. My overall technique involves identifying limiting beliefs, challenging them, and rewriting a new and healthier belief system to help you thrive. This can be done in many ways, but it will be tailored specifically for you. In working with me, it is important to know that I believe in the power of accountability and the importance of connection in moving through the process. I won’t ask you to give more than you can, but I also want you to progress as fast as you can. I specialize in anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, trauma, and addiction. However, there are almost no issues that I have not faced in the therapy room. I am honored to have the opportunity to help you and am looking forward to working with you.
Once a connection is established, you will begin to see the patterns in thought and behavior that have been holding you back. You will learn techniques to challenge and eliminate those patterns, and you will be empowered to use those techniques to make the necessary changes in your life. Your life will start to change in ways that you did not believe were possible. You will begin to feel energized to take on the challenges that used to drain you, and you will have confidence to face new situations that used to scare you.
I use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) as a base to jump off from. However, I often find that the thoughts and feelings that lead to suffering are related to trauma. Thus, I gently move into the trauma using trauma focused models from my EMDR and TF-CBT practices. Then, I move into strength-based modalities that highlight resiliency. I have a very large toolbox to draw from due to my years of experience.
My biggest strength comes from my analytical mind. I am able to quickly identify patterns, defense mechanisms, and subconscious thoughts. I have a caring way of guiding my clients towards seeing these and make it easy for them to correct them. My next strength is my ability to normalize people's feelings. The benefit of working with thousands of people is that I have seen so much. Thus, I will never make a client feel shamed or abnormal for what they experience. Finally, I am a keen student of therapy and am able to integrate the newest practices to help my clients. I am open minded to anything that could help, and I make sure that I work hard to see improvement for all people I help.
