About me

Are you a senior who has recently experienced the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or a significant life change that has you wondering how life will ever feel normal again? Do you feel gripped by anxiety and desire peace of mind? Are you a caregiver struggling with anger and guilt? Do you feel alone and disconnected from the people and things that used to give you joy? Maybe you’re in survival mode: fighting just to stay above water in the day to day. You may be so overwhelmed that you don’t even know what you feel. Hi, my name is Hannah Wagner. As a geriatric therapist specializing in grief & loss, anxiety, depression, life changes and caregiver burnout I understand that you may not be able to share what’s going on with those closest to you. Therapy is a safe place where you can freely express yourself as you learn to live this new version of life. I’ll meet you wherever you are on your unique aging journey and offer support, tools, & strategies aimed at helping you feel less alone, more empowered, & more hopeful about the future. When you give yourself the permission to grieve, you allow yourself the opportunity to heal.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the first session, I’ll ask you questions to get to know you better, learn more about what is bothering you, and share with you how I can help you reach your goals. You can decide if you want to meet weekly or every other week depending on your needs and goals. Every aspect of your care will be personalized to meet your needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I focus on the whole person; mind, body and soul. I help seniors identify what is keeping them stuck and teach them skills that empower them to make changes. I help seniors discover joy and purpose in life again. I’ve been told by clients that I am warm, authentic & empowering. Clients have shared that they’ve found me to be relatable, kind, understanding, and a source of comfort & encouragement throughout our work together. I am solution focused and provide tools for clients to work with. I have so much respect and admiration for the seniors who have invited me into their lives and allowed me to join them on their path to growth & healing.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Do you find yourself gripped by anxiety and worry, no matter what you do? Is it getting harder to manage the ups and downs of life? Are you grieving the death of a loved one or a big life transition? You are not alone, aging is hard. You may be fed up with missing out on the things you enjoy , feeling unseen, fearful, overwhelmed or down all the time. You might not even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to experience joy again and have peace of mind. You’re ready to discover your new purpose. Most of all, you’re ready to step into this next season of life with confidence .

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is understanding the connection between your thoughts, emotions and behaviors and how they impact one another. I use CBT to help you recognize your assumptions, beliefs and self-criticism to reduce worry and anxious thinking; giving you peace of mind.

Grief Therapy

Grief can be the loss of a loved one. You may feel like no one understands what you are going through. You may feel lonely, sad and hopeless. I use grief therapy to unpack your sadness and process your loss in order to move towards healing. Grief can also be the loss of a dream "what should have been", the loss of a physical or mental ability or the loss that comes from a big life event like retirement. I use grief therapy to identify the loss and process the hurt in order to move forward. I help you identify ways to cope with difficult emotions and express them in a healthy way. I want you to feel supported and safe to grieve.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness practices encourage you to notice your thoughts and what is going on inside your body when you think or feel something. I work with you to increase your awareness of the whole body connection. Using mindfulness reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression. I want you to learn how to live in the moment and find greater enjoyment in your life.

Motivational Interviewing

I have used this treatment method for over 10 years to meet clients where they are with compassion and non-judgement. I will use motivational interviewing to identify your goals and what might be in the way of achieving them. I work to validate and empower you as you move one step at a time towards your goals.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use solution focused brief treatment for clients who have one or two specific problems they want to solve. I work with you to identify the problem and come up with solutions that fit your needs. I will work at your pace and we will set realistic and achievable goals. Research has shown that this treatment method is very effective specifically for people 55 and over.
