Hi, I’m so glad you’re here! I’m a San Francisco native, a military veteran, and a lifelong art lover who finally found the courage to answer my truest calling during the whirlwind of 2020. I haven’t looked back since. I am deeply passionate about bridging the gaps in mental health care and destigmatizing therapy—because taking care of your mind should be as normal as taking care of your body. When I’m not in the therapist chair, my life is beautifully full. I’m a homeschooling mom to six incredible girls (yes, six!), married to my childhood sweetheart, and a big fan of making meals from scratch and catching a double feature at the drive-in movie theater. My Approach I bring that same blend of heart, dedication, and real-world chaos into my practice. I take a direct, down-to-earth approach, and I love working with people who are truly ready to show up, connect, and do the work. My space is for teens and adults navigating messy transitions, trauma, PTSD/CPTSD, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders. Whether you are running on fumes or struggling with a loud inner critic, my goal is to provide a warm, judgment-free space where you can drop the mask, laugh, cry, and be totally honest. Together, we’ll unpack the heavy stuff so you can finally learn to love, see, and choose yourself.

Nǐ hǎo / Hello! I am a licensed mental health therapist in Florida with over 20 years of experience helping individuals work through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, school-related stress, relationship issues, and major life challenges. Many of the people I support come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally drained, or unsure how to move forward. I believe therapy works best when goals are clear, practical, and measurable, so we can track progress in a meaningful way. I also believe humor can be a powerful part of healing, helping create a more relaxed and human space for growth. I believe strong therapy starts with listening, truly understanding who you are, what you have been through, and what matters most to you. I use evidence-based treatment to help clients address anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship stress, school concerns, and emotional overwhelm. Together, we set goals that align with your values. In my leisure time I play music instruments, I enjoy cooking, Hotpot is my favorite food. I speak mandarin besides English and I consider myself as a people person. I am open minded willing to learn from others.

I have found that describing myself had never been a skill I have mastered throughout my years of experience. It just feels awkward, so I embrace the awkward. I would say that is how I approach the therapeutic relationship as well. I laugh at the absurd and try to make the awkwardness a friend. I name it so we can work with it in an authentic nonjudgemental manner. I always ask my clients to give therapy a chance and the therapist a chance as well. I say move on if by session three you are not "feeling it" with the therapist. It is okay if you don't like me as a therapist. This is your journey and I am your guide. The journey needs to be with someone who you connect with.

About Me Welcome—I’m Emmanuel Nzuzu. If you’re here, something within you knows that the way things are… is not the way they’re meant to be. You may be carrying more than you let on—On the outside, you may still be functioning. But internally, it feels different. And at some point, you begin to recognize: You cannot keep living this way. In our work together, you are faced with a powerful choice: You can continue to think about your life as it is… or begin to see it as it should be. You can stay anchored in your current reality… or start creating a new one. You can focus on how heavy things feel… or on how different they could become. You can keep revisiting the problem… or begin building the solution. My role is to guide you through that shift—with clarity, structure, certainty, and intention. I provide a private, grounded space where you can safely confront what you’ve been carrying—without judgment, and without losing yourself in it. Whether it’s alcohol, drugs, emotional overwhelm, or internal conflict, we work to help you regain control by taking your power back from the patterns that have been quietly running your life. Together, we move beyond survival. You will learn to steady your mind, regulate your emotions, and become guided by a clear vision of your future and not memories of the past. This is not about managing symptoms. It is about reclaiming your clarity, your strength, and your direction—and building a life that reflects who you truly are. If you’re ready to stop living in what is… and begin creating what should be, I’m here.

Because many adults need support outside traditional hours, I offer evening and weekend sessions with no long-term commitment, so the sessions fit your lifestyle and meet your immediate needs. If you are going through major turning points- considering divorce, managing elder care decisions, coping with estrangement, or trying to understand the dynamics of a difficult partner or parent. I help you make sense of what's happening, strengthen your internal clarity, and take grounding steps forward.

I am a therapist who values the courage it takes to seek help and take the first step toward working on yourself. I understand that life can become overwhelming, and that responsibilities, personal experiences, cultural background, education, or simply being in survival mode can sometimes get in the way of prioritizing your emotional well-being. Therefore, I offer a space where people can slow down, better understand the patterns behind what they feel, and learn how to navigate life with more clarity, emotional balance, and self-understanding rather than constantly feeling like they are just trying to survive through it.

I am a mental health counselor licensed in Florida with 5 years of work experience. I have experience in helping clients from all walks of life; these include stress, anxiety, anger management, motivation, self esteem, confidence, depression, and coping with life changes. I have served in numerous mental health settings like hospitals, private practice, treatment centers, and community mental health agencies. During these moments, I have worked with numerous populations such as children, adolescents, young adults, older adults, and elders (the elderly). My therapeutic approach will continuously maintain a client-centered approach with subtle confrontational crossroads. This means that during the process we will have to monitor and check for willingness and accountability, due to its importance in the changing process. I believe that the client-counselor relationship works best with mutual respect, clarity, and compassion. Treatment with me will be tailored to meet your unique and specific needs. My existence with you in the therapeutic space is to allow you the space to grow, experience nurturing, and reevaluate your understood identities. In life, taking the first step can be scary and uncomfortable. Let me remind you that seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage, and if you have made it this far...I do believe that you have what it takes to get there. I am here to support you in the process, watch you grow, and stare amazed at the new awakened being that you will become. Be blessed and release the stress!

I work with women navigating life transitions, including changes in relationships, family roles, and health. These experiences can bring anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and the effects of trauma into focus, and can influence how thoughts, emotions, and the body interact. As a yoga teacher and yoga therapist for over 25 years, mindfulness is a natural part of my work and informs how I understand and approach the mind body connection. I integrate mindfulness based stress reduction, mindfulness based cognitive therapy, and somatic therapy into sessions in a way that supports awareness and emotional regulation. Hi, I'm David Hobbs. I’ve been practicing as a licensed psychologist for more than 25 years, primarily utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy as an effective tool to treat anxiety and depression. As these can be emotionally debilitating conditions, addressing these issues can improve one’s sense of well-being, and thus their lives in general, dramatically. For the past 5 years, I have incorporated spirituality into my treatment regimen, thus addressing that aspect of one's personality in relation to improving their overall sense of emotional well-being. I have recently authored a book, "God is Love, Revelations From Spiritually Transformative Experiences," to help enlighten others who have questions about God and spirituality, and incorporate these lessons into their everyday lives.

You’re a high-achieving woman who appears successful on the outside, yet internally feels overwhelmed, disconnected, or quietly unfulfilled. You know how to perform, push through, and hold it all together, but patterns like perfectionism, people-pleasing, procrastination, or chronic self-doubt continue to limit your sense of ease, confidence, and fulfillment. You may have a strong career, financial stability, a home, and a life that looks “together” from the outside. Your responsibilities are handled. Your bills are paid. You show up for others. And yet, there’s a persistent sense that something is missing. No matter how much you accomplish, the relief is temporary and the internal pressure quickly returns. You tell yourself you should feel satisfied, but instead feel stuck in cycles you can’t seem to outthink or outwork. My work is designed for women like you, those who are capable, self-aware, and ready for meaningful change. Together, we move beyond surface-level coping strategies and address the deeper roots of self-sabotage. Through a highly personalized, one-on-one approach, we uncover the unconscious patterns driving these behaviors, strengthen self-trust, and build the internal safety needed to create lasting change. This is not about fixing what’s “wrong” with you. It’s about helping you feel grounded, confident, and fulfilled in a life you’ve already worked hard to build, without burning out or betraying yourself along the way.

Do you feel overwhelmed these days? Are you constantly trying to strike a balance between the demands of work and parenting or co-parenting, while also managing your health, housework, and perhaps other demands? In your family, does the caretaking always fall to you? Are you experiencing depression and anxiety in reaction to either a past trauma and/or burnout from stress? I work with women who are experiencing what I like to call "multiple-role fatigue". I have experience in treating depression, anxiety, and trauma-related stress disorders common to women who face an ever-mounting load of responsibilities in a complex society, where being a mother or a caretaker often comes with diverse challenges and responsibilities. I also like to work with clients on their recovery from trauma. With this in mind, I incorporate various treatment modalities, where healing and recovery can take place through a combination of compassionate conversation, active listening, homework assignments journaling, mindfulness, self-reflection, cognitive behavior therapy, grief counseling, boundary setting and trauma-informed care. I also offer a faith-based support, where clients seeking a Christian approach are welcome. I like to form a supportive alliance with caregivers to help them navigate the demands of parenting a child or children with higher needs. I focus on parental needs, and I work with clients using evidence-based techniques to empower them to achieve balance and experience lasting well-being. For parents, I'm a big advocate of self-care, and I help my clients learn to nurture themselves in a sustainable way to avoid burnout. I also believe that parents need to feel seen and heard, and the stress of parenting cannot be overemphasized. Forming a partnership with parents, giving them a forum in which they feel consistently supported in a compassionate and non-judgmental way, therefore, is one of my top priorities as a therapist.

Clients should know that I’m down-to-earth, non-judgmental, and a genuine person. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be real—no masks, no pressure, no shame. I bring warmth and care into the room, along with a sense of humor when it’s helpful, because healing doesn’t always have to feel heavy to be meaningful. I’m also solution-focused and collaborative. That means we’ll spend time understanding what’s going on, but we won’t get stuck there. We’ll work together to identify practical tools, coping strategies, and small, realistic steps that can help you feel better in your day-to-day life. Above all, I care deeply about meeting you where you are and supporting you in a way that feels respectful, empowering, and aligned with your goals.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Florida rather than a city like Tampa?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Florida. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Florida from Miami to Jacksonville! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Florida.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
