Whether your issues are from childhood, relationships, your career, or past mistakes; betrayal can cause a variety of problems that will cause you to suffer and feel stagnated.
I became a Therapist because I wanted to help individuals and couples who need healing from unresolved issues from their past. Although, it may feel as if life can't be different, this is not true. The truth is, you do have the power to change your life. Participating in counseling is the first step!
My name is Meagan Baxter and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in with 6+ years of experience. I received my MSW from the University of Southern California. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. I am certified in trauma therapy. I have previously worked in inpatient psychiatric facilities, inpatient substance abuse facilities, school districts, and home health.
We are a group practice specializing in trauma, attachment, depression/anxiety and addictions. Our approach to therapy is person-centered and we will cater your services to your specific needs. We also operate from a psychodynamic theoretical orientation in which I believe that we must take in account the situations and experiences from our past in order to better understand our present. With this, our therapists will work heavily on helping you understand certain thought patterns, ways of behaving and in some cases recover suppressed experiences and memories. Our therapists have specialized trauma training in EMDR and Brainspotting and I will incorporate these modalities when needed. I have a passion for working with the minority and marginalized (LGBTQA) communities in order to break the stigma of going to therapy and bringing awareness to certain generational traumas. My goal is to change the idea of what it looks like to address your mental and emotional wellness by providing non-traditional and alternative techniques to healing. I do not discriminate against race, class, gender, gender identity, belief systems, or sexual orientation.
I have over 8 years of experience working with children from the age of 4 to adults of all ages. I look forward to meeting you and helping you along the way.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Georgia. My experience comes from providing direct mental health and behavioral counseling for teens and adults with a variety of presenting issues, including anxiety, relationship and family issues, trauma, community violence, gender identity, and depression. I approach the therapeutic relationship with an acute sensitivity and respect for multi/cross-cultural factors. My clinical experience includes working with a diverse population which includes race, youth, families, and adults given my firsthand experience in navigating generational and cultural differences. Representation for minority groups in the broader world of mental health is still very small, and my own professional goals include creating more intersection between my personal knowledge of western cultures and professional experience in providing mental health support. My experience is varied and across settings, as I have provided individual and family therapy in community mental health agencies, school settings and day treatment facilities. I believe that we are all products of our closest relationships, our environment, our family systems, and every moment that leads to the present us. I strive to treat the therapeutic relationship, and you, with compassion, respect, and warmth. My therapy style and approach draws influence from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychoeducation, and Structural systems. A top priority for me is to meet you where you are and calibrate treatment and my approach to what will work best for us as we work together to meet your goals. Whether you are working towards enlightenment and insight or symptom-relief and improved functions, my hope is that we can collaboratively work together to achieve it! It takes a lot of strength and will power to work towards a more fulfilling and happier life. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support you and empower you.
