New to Grow
I am LaToya T. Newman, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who primarily works with adults and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. Many of the people I serve are high-functioning yet internally overwhelmed. They may feel disconnected, reactive, or stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand. My work is grounded in attachment, emotional awareness, and systems thinking. I help clients explore how stress, past experiences, and relational dynamics continue to influence their present lives. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work to understand and confront the emotional and relational patterns at the root of distress. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), trauma-informed care, and relational approaches to guide meaningful change. Therapy with me is collaborative, structured, and intentional. My goal is to help clients move from survival mode to emotional clarity, stronger communication, and more secure connection. While my primary focus is adults and couples, I also work with teenagers navigating anxiety, family stress, and life transitions.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we focus on understanding your story and clarifying what brings you to therapy. I ask structured questions to explore your history, relationships, and current stressors. Together, we identify patterns, define goals, and establish a clear direction for our work. You can expect a supportive yet purposeful environment focused on meaningful progress.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
What sets my work apart is my ability to identify emotional and relational patterns in real time. I integrate trauma-informed care with attachment-based and systems-informed approaches to help clients move beyond surface-level insight. Clients often share that they feel both deeply understood and appropriately challenged toward growth.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work best with adults and couples who are ready to examine emotional and relational patterns that keep them feeling stuck. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, unresolved trauma, communication breakdowns, or recurring conflict. They want more than coping tools—they want deeper understanding, stronger connection, and lasting change.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help individuals and couples understand the emotional patterns beneath anxiety, conflict, and disconnection. We identify attachment needs driving reactive cycles and work to restore emotional safety, strengthen communication, and create lasting change at the root.
Trauma Informed Care
My work is grounded in trauma-informed care, which means I recognize how past experiences and chronic stress shape emotional responses and relationship dynamics. I prioritize safety, collaboration, and pacing, helping clients process difficult experiences while building stability and resilience.
Relational
Relational therapy allows us to explore how your experiences with others influence how you see yourself, communicate, and connect today. Together, we examine patterns within relationships—past and present—to improve connection, reduce conflict, and foster healthier emotional bonds.
