New to Grow
My name is Michelle Alden and I am a licensed professional counselor in Georgia. I have been working in this field since 2009. I have a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling as well as certifications in anger management, autism, dementia and Alzheimer’s. I also have worked with veterans and have been certified in PE doing work with PTSD. The population has been diverse as I worked in different locations from clinics, prison, and done private practice. I worked with clients from the age of 6-99.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The first session, is a get to know each other and the problems. We will discuss appointments, the reasons that they are wanting therapy and expectations on both sides.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My therapeutic methods and approaches are used to understand, education, work on healing and empowering the client to become empowered in their own lives and feel more in control.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are those that want to get better and are doing their part to believe that things can change and are willing to be open however all that takes time as we build the therapeutic relationship and that is ok as long as they are willing to follow through by wanting better.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)
I use different types of methods depending on the person. I start with cognitive behavioral to understand what is going on with thought, emotions and behaviors and may transition to solution focused, motivational, narrative, or any other that fits the situation. I work with my clients making them the center.
