Rachel Freiberg was born and raised in Parkland, Florida. After completing her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Criminology at the University of Central Florida, she obtained her Master's in Mental Health Counseling at Nova Southeastern University. She then furthered her training and became a Registered Play Therapist by the Association of Play Therapy. She has extensive and diverse experience in school, community health, substance abuse, and penal facilities. She is comfortable in individual, family, and group settings. She is especially experienced in the area of child and adolescent trauma. Rachel designs her treatment plans with a tailored approach to meet the unique needs of each of her clients. Fundamentally, this is based upon creating a strong therapeutic bond by cultivating a safe, judgement free environment. Commonly employed therapeutic modalities include cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, and play therapy (for children). I am a licensed clinical psychologist with experience treating a range of disorders. My psychodynamic background lends itself to the exploration of unconscious conflicts and the impact of early experience. However, I understand that when people seek treatment, they are often experiencing distress. Hence, I understand the importance of focusing on the presenting problem. I believe the therapeutic process is a creative endeavor between therapist and client. As such, I strive to create a warm and safe environment. I draw on psychodynamic and existential theory and incorporate elements of cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy as well as mindfulness approaches. I specialize in grief and loss. Grief and loss can include death, break-ups/ divorce, relationship transitions, illness, pet loss, job loss, loss of home, or experiencing a move. Even positive life changes in life can bring feelings of sadness and loss. Grief can be overwhelming and can accompany a lot of additional feelings some of those can be anxiety, anger, sadness, resentment, and relief. I help clients by helping validate and explore these emotions, identifying coping skills and support, and giving them the tools to rebuild their new normal. Other common issues include anxiety, self-esteem, relationship issues, coping skills, and family conflict.
