First session
I have personally experienced being a client in the first therapy session too. In our initial meeting together, you will be greeted with kindness and safety. I create a space of understanding, zero judgement, and relationship building. I want you to feel safe and able to share, so the pace is yours and I will meet you there.
Strengths
I strive to help my clients find their way through the difficulties, emotional pain, and experiences that can turn everyday life into a challenge. I believe deeply in the importance of connection with ourselves and others. When relationships are wounded, healing is possible. For whatever reason you are seeking counseling, I will meet you where you are most comfortable. Sometimes we need clarity or direction, validation or challenge. At all times, we need connection. I offer a space grounded in deep listening and compassionate acceptance. My approach is grounded in understanding the importance of our nervous system and how working with this system enables lasting change.
Ideal clients
I see clients dealing with myriad challenges. Some challenges are universal and others are unique. I like to collaborate with clients in finding the right solution for their needs. I am here to help my clients find clarity and gain insight. I encourage the inner strengths I see and validate even the smallest wins. Therapy is a process and I encourage clients to be kind to themselves throughout their journey.
Treatment methods
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment theory helps us understand the value of accepting difficult emotions and thoughts instead of fighting against them. It offers flexibility of mindset and behaviors and encourages values-driven action. Whether used for anxiety, control issues, the inability to tolerate certain situations - to name just a few - ACT helps shift us away from trying to control the parts of life we cannot, to a life more aligned with the things we value.
Integrative
Humans are unique and I have often found in my practice that there is not always a "one-size-fits-all" solution. I take an eclectic approach where I combine effective parts of various therapy models based on my individual client's situation, needs, and struggles. This allows a flexible framework of using specific yet compatible theories and skills.
