You may be feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or stuck in painful patterns that make it hard to manage daily life, relationships, or your sense of self-worth. Sometimes these struggles are tied to current life challenges, and other times they are connected to earlier experiences that continue to affect how you feel, relate to others, and respond to stress today. Therapy can help you better understand what is going on and begin making meaningful changes. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking licensed psychotherapist and the author of Healing Childhood Trauma. I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, low self-worth, and relationship difficulties. I help clients explore the patterns that may be keeping them stuck while building healthier ways of coping, relating, and moving through daily life. Please note: I accept insurance for individual therapy; however, specialized couples counseling and family therapy are offered exclusively on a private-pay basis. My approach is warm, straightforward, and collaborative. I work with respect for your pace and aim to create a space where you can better understand your experiences, work through emotional pain, and build more secure patterns in your life and relationships. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. I support you through this process with the goal of helping you feel more secure, more confident, and better equipped to handle life’s challenges. When you feel ready to begin, I invite you to schedule our first session today.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

A Purposeful Start Our first meeting is a low-pressure opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building trust. To help us hit the ground running, I carefully review the background information you provide in your portal before we meet. This allows us to move quickly past logistics and jump straight into a meaningful conversation about your goals and what you hope to change. Building Your Strategy We will use your pre-session reflections to "map out" the patterns you are noticing in your life. As an author and specialist in childhood trauma, I help you identify where you feel stuck so we can build a collaborative plan of action. This is much like a professional strategy session. By the end of our first meeting, we will have identified your primary areas of focus and a realistic frequency for our work together that respects your lifestyle and goals. Practical Details & Logistics We will also clarify how I work and cover essential details like privacy and confidentiality. What to Expect Many clients leave the first session feeling a sense of relief and a clearer perspective on their situation. You don't need to have a perfect "therapy goal" ready; my job is to help you find that clarity. My goal is for you to leave our first conversation feeling heard, respected, and equipped with a steady plan for your growth. Relationship Therapy: Please note that while I accept insurance for individual therapy, specialized couples and family sessions are offered exclusively on a private-pay basis.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strength is helping you "connect the dots" between your past and your present without getting lost in the "why." As an author specializing in childhood and relational trauma, I help you understand your emotional patterns not as personal failures, but as understandable responses to your life experiences. What stands out about my approach: Expert Insight: I use a structured approach to trauma and resilience, drawing from my published work to help you identify root causes efficiently. Balance of Insight & Action: We move beyond just "talking." I help you build a practical toolkit for setting boundaries, managing stress, and improving relationships in real-time. Bilingual Fluency: I provide a professional space where you can express yourself authentically and fluently in either English or Spanish. Straightforward Communication: I don’t use clinical jargon. My style is calm, honest, and grounded in the real-world reality of your daily life and responsibilities. Safety & Pacing: I respect your time and your boundaries. We build stability and self-trust first, ensuring you feel secure before diving into deeper work. Ultimately, I help you stop second-guessing yourself and start trusting your own judgment again.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with adults who... Are navigating significant responsibilities — You are effectively managing your roles at work, at home, or in your community, but the internal mental load has become heavy. You might look steady on the outside, but you’re experiencing an underlying tension or exhaustion that feels difficult to sustain over time. Notice patterns that keep repeating — Whether in your relationships, your career, or how you treat yourself, you feel "stuck" in loops you don’t fully understand. You are ready to explore the root of these patterns and, more importantly, figure out how to change them. Suspect the past is affecting the present — You want to understand how earlier life experiences or relational wounds might be casting a shadow on your current confidence, stress levels, and ability to connect with others. Value a straightforward, practical approach — You aren’t looking for vague clinical jargon. You want a therapist who is direct, engaged, authentic, and focused on the real-world reality of your daily life. We may be a good fit if you... Are ready for a collaborative partnership — You want to be an active participant in your growth. You prefer a therapeutic space where we work together as partners, moving at a pace that respects your time and energy. Balance insight with action — You want to understand the "why" behind your struggles, but you also want practical strategies to help you feel better in your daily life. Appreciate an expert perspective — You value working with a specialist and author who has a deep, structured understanding of life's challenges and how it can impact daily living.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have extensive experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), utilizing the strategies daily and having completed my in-depth training during my graduate studies. In my practice, I use CBT as an approach to help clients understand the relation between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By identifying and challenging negative thought patterns, we work together to develop healthier behaviors and coping strategies. This method has proven effective in treating a wide range of psychological issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress management. I integrate CBT with practical exercises and homework assignments to reinforce learning and promote change outside of therapy sessions.

Motivational Interviewing

I have trained and been trained in Motivational Interviewing (MI) for many years and have successfully incorporated it into my therapy sessions since I began as a therapist. This client-centered counseling style is effective for fostering intrinsic motivation to change. In my practice, I use MI techniques to help clients articulate their personal reasons for wanting to make changes in their lives. I guide clients toward their own solutions, enhancing their commitment to change. Through using MI we can create a non-confrontational environment where clients feel supported to uncover and strengthen their drive towards their goals.

Trauma Informed Care

Childhood trauma is a central focus of my work. I have dedicated much of my clinical practice to understanding how early experiences shape emotional patterns, relationships, and self-worth in adulthood. I am also the author of Healing Childhood Trauma: Your Guide to Finally Living a Happy and Fulfilled Life, which reflects both my professional experience and commitment to this area. My approach to trauma-informed care emphasizes safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment. I work at a pace that feels respectful and manageable, helping clients make sense of their experiences without feeling overwhelmed or re-traumatized. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we explore how trauma has impacted the nervous system, emotions, and beliefs—while also identifying strengths and pathways toward healing.

Humanistic

Some clients prefer to be allowed to work through issues rather than telling them what they should do, I collaborate with them to explore their thoughts, emotions, values, and strengths. This approach supports self-awareness, personal growth, and the ability to make meaningful, self-directed changes. I believe that healing happens within a trusting therapeutic relationship, and that clients already possess the inner resources needed for growth. Therapy becomes a space to reconnect with those strengths, develop clarity, and move forward with greater confidence and self-compassion.

Strength-Based

My work is rooted in a strength-based approach that focuses on identifying and building upon each client’s existing abilities, resilience, and values. Rather than viewing people through a lens of deficits or diagnoses, I help clients recognize what is already working and use those strengths to navigate challenges. I collaborate with clients to uncover past successes, coping skills, and personal resources, even when they may not be immediately visible. This approach supports empowerment, confidence, and meaningful change by reinforcing clients’ capacity to grow, heal, and make choices that align with their goals.
